In the last 2 months I have replaced the main computer processor, 2 ignition modules, 2 ignition sensors, the crankshaft position sensor, and the mass airflow sensor on my 1994 SHO. If I try to start it about 1 hour after using it, it won't go, if it does go after a lot of cranking, the check engine light comes on, the tach stops, and it runs hot. Leave it overnight, and it starts and runs fine. My dealer can't seem to figure it out and I'm getting frsutrated. Does anyone have any indeas?
Terry.

Sounds like the CPS has been damaged by a leaking waterpump.

The would explain your cooling problems and a no-start with loss of tach.

Another possibility is a bad check valve on the fuel pump. it will cause loss of pressure and vapourizig of the fuel in teh fuel lines. No fuel at the fuel rails can cause lots of sputtering and cranking, but no loss of tach.

K-Dawg:
CHECK THE CODES.
Please check the codes by referring to the links at the bottom of my signature. If the CHECK ENGINE light illuminated, there is a code set in memory. Get it and it should point to your problem. After having done it a few times, you can retrieve codes in about 2 minutes. Anywhere. Anytime.

Once you get the codes, post them here. Our collective experience can be very helpful. It sounds like a DIS module, DIS module connector or DIS module ground to me, but you will need to check those codes to have a clue. Please do.

Sounds like it maybe the camshaft position sensor.
When mine was bad I would get intermittent hard starts after turning off the engine then shortly later trying to start it up again. After a few attempts the motor would stutter then finally run but it would run rough and rich w/ a ce light and w/o a tach until I jumped on the pedal and got the revs past 4-5000 rpms. Then the tach would spring to life and the light would go out.
When I finally got to pulling the codes I had a stored code for the camshaft position sensor. 25 bucks and 20 minutes later the hard starts were over, although I did'nt have any of the overheating issues that you mentioned,... maybe they're not related.
Like K-DAWG mentioned try pulling the stored codes your light went on so they have to be there and they will take 95% of the speculation and guessing away.
