Engine Cover Spitballing

I have been looking for ways to cover the wiring and sensors a little in the engine bay without having the massive heat soaker of the stock engine cover. I recently drafted this design then printed it on my 3D45 for fitment. I'm curious about opinions. The final product would, of course, be metal. Most likely burned stainless or anodized aluminum. Mounting is using two of the stock engine cover mount holes with risers. Anyways, Tell me what you think.

Maybe lose it if its a race car but as a road driven car i think those engine covers also help put out fires with the material under it. With the hpfp right under the cover, id keep it on.

My cover is not installed and hasnt been in a while but i want to put it back on an maybe take it off a show or something

yea I'm stock. gonna hydrodip it eventually but I don't like the rats nest underneath so I keep it hidden.

Yeah it’s not like there’s a dual quad with some 4V Hollys under there. I understand where you’re coming from with heat but really there isn’t anything to see, more so, it’s junk you don’t want to see. I like where your head is at though. I’d go the route of the same shape as stock with vent holes. Maybe eliminate the part around the oil cap and put slits where the stripes are on top.

Ok, I'm following. How about losing the area to the passenger side and the oil cap surround? I attached a cut line on the pic. I would, of course, keep and move over the SHO.

I’d say that’s a bit too much off. I’d lose only the cap portion, and keep the hole for the dipstick. I think without the oil cap portion though it would lose support up front.

yeah, that reason and weight are why I'm trying trim useless pieces of the cover off. The portion to the passenger is covering the throttle body which looks nice. If I fab that big of a cover in any metal, that is thick enough to not vibrate and rattle, it would weigh an arm and leg. Even aluminum that size would be hefty.

Here's what we did to my wife's engine cover. It is painted in the same color as the striping we painted on the car. The fuse box cover is also painted the same. Need to touch up the cover when we paint the radiator cover this spring.

I did this today to my engine cover the last picture shows sanding off the SHO and eco-boost letters emblems

A little more sanding wet sanding make it all smooth flat and that part's done then I'm going to put a lip on each side 1" or 2" Lip on the throttle body side. Still working out the details. I'll get the engine cover all done and the last thing is the lighting system.
