you're lucky you got a tan interior. the black interior trim pieces are friggin unobtanium. i lucked out and found a local guy that parted out a black gen 1. unfortunately i didn't realize until after i put the bucket in that the perforated leather in the drivers seat i swapped doesn't match.

I'm thinking i'll be learning how to do upholstery at some point here and swap my perforated leather in the seats with black suede (along with the arm rest on my gen 2 console and the perf. leather in the door panelling. i dislike the perforated leather and miss the suede panelling i had in my last car.

I have seen you can buy a whole eatc unit with all hard buttons. This is like 100 bucks though. Is there a cheaper solution to fix these buttons?

I just sold one on ebay for 36 bucks

I had another auction before that, and couldn't even get any bids for 50 bucks for a better condition EATC

the market has REALLY dropped out on these parts for the prices they used to get. I usually buy them in the junkyard for about 7-13 bucks

word to the wise, keep your old POS ones, if nothing else they have good light bulbs in them. New ones are 10 a piece from the dealer.

also a hard button and soft button SHO/Taurus EATC doesn't look EXACTLY the same, I beileve the buttons are a little bit bigger/stick out more on a hard button...... they've always looked different to me

The bulbs are not interchangeable. The bulbs are still worth keeping for other things possibly. I know that the clock in my 91 takes the same bulb as a soft button EATC.

yep, just swapped mine tonight.

i need to get a hard button EATC. i swapped in another soft button i had that looked fine on visual inspection, but when illuminated, not only was the lens that wierd indiglo color the gen 2s had (my gen one is the bright green lights) i noticed three of the buttons are cracked.

i'm gonna get a hard button and try and swap my green lens from my current EATC onto it.

junk yard doesnt open for 2 more hours damn it!

Just compared the buttons on the "soft" ETAC unit I removed from my '94, and the "hard" button unit I replaced it with from a '95 Taurus GL. Yup, there's definitely a difference or two, that's for sure. The dimensions of the buttons themselves are slightly different, but when you've got them right up against each other, it's obvious. The "hard" buttons aren't as wide, but are taller, than the "soft" buttons. Also, the "feel" between the "soft" and "hard" buttons are different as well. To me, the bigger "hard" buttons have a softer feel, in that it takes less pressure to push them in, if that makes sense.

Anyway, now that I've compared my "soft" and "hard" button ETACs, I can definitely tell the difference. Thanks for all the comments, in helping to educate this relatively new SHO owner.
