yeah, its WAY early, but the forums been kinda slow. so...what are yall planning to accomplish with your cars before the Fall Run ?

here in a few months, im going to start scouting the area again to see if anything has changed. Kerrville PD now has a wide array of police vehicles. from the PT Cruiser, to the Stang GT, to the Crown Vic with invisible decals. the car is gray, and the decals match, but they reflect at night. kind of stealth but once you see one, youll never miss another. there is heavy roadwork going on in town, but ill venture out 16 to see if we need to detour.

as far as the plans for my car. i got my power back, though i may be dropping a heat range on the next plug change to see how they act. if all goes well, ill have a fresh motor to drop in along with welded motor mounts. but i dont plan on doing that before the run. i WILL be installing all new suspension bushings within the next 2 months and readjust my alignment. toe needs tweaking, and camber is a little heavy on the negative side. at present im running -3.5 degrees of camber all the way around and the tires are wearing evenly with no cupping, feathering, or whatnot.

I need some rear 1/4 windows still. And I need my a/c fixed. Once these two things are fixed, I'll start driving it.

only problems with the windows is they have to be cut out, suposedly with piano wire. not something real fun to do at a junk yard with a car sitting in 2 foot tall weeds, in the middle of a hot texas day, with a back door that will only open a foot and a half and a wasp nest in the door jamb. (wow can I complain or what?)

The A/C isn't that big of a deal, I have all the new parts, just have to flush the system with equipment I don't have, replace the dryer/compressor/and liquid line, pull a vacuum with equipment I don't have, and charge it with more equipment I don't have.
could always pay someone to do it, but... who's got money, not me...
You do A/C dale?

Martin, the quarter window is a bolt in unit. or at least to my understanding, it is.

A/C work: system flush = isopropyl alcohol (2 gallons), siphon gun, air compressor. flush condensor, evaporator core, and compressor. the accumulator and orifice tube gets replaced.

A-Z rents vacuums pumps at the rate of 200, but completely refundable. once system is flushed, and accumulator is installed, draw vacuum on the system for 45 minutes to 1 hour, then charge with freon.

theres a bit more to it than that, but its very simple and can be very cheap, if you know where to look.

im not an A/C tech...i can do it but cant guarantee itll work for long. i mean, ive already locked up one compressor and the 2nd caught on fire. in between the 2 events, i had the low side line blow up in my face. low side mind you..with about 200 lbs of pressure coming out. wasnt pretty...and it hurts.

I looked in the book, the gen 2's are bolted in, the gen 1's are glued.

ok, went to the dealership and saw a picture. youre right, but they arent glued, theyre sealed...just like a windshield. strip the interior, use a heat gun around the seal(on the inside). if you can get it soft enough, you should be able to push it out without too much trouble. watch your heat though. if you cant pop it loose but can strecth the seal so that the frame leaves a gap between the body, use one of those cable saws. ya know, like Boy Scouts carry for cutting down small trees for firewood ? be creative..think outside the box :).

will PM you about A/C.

Biggest PITA is doing this all in a junk yard. Getting the old ones outta my car is the easy part ;) Getting a heat gun to work in the middle of the J-yard is a whole nother bag 'o' worms. Someone's gotta have a parts gen 1 ar that'd be willing to pull these out for me, and sell em to me :D
Thanks for the info!

What is the fall run going to be?

What or where? I know what the where is but I guess the what would be, serveral of us crazy lsshoc/fordbastards get together (last year we stayed in SA year before Kerrville) and drive the Texas hill counrty around Bandera, TX. very fastly while avoiding the hunters, livestock, deer, and mostly the man so we don't have to pay any "being stupid" taxes.

The fall run will be the 3rd weekend of Oct. which is the weekend of the 16th.
My vote is we stay in SA again.

All I plan on doing to Blue92 is swop the tires off my soon to be green parts car and fix the A/C soon as Mr. Tony can get to it.

Are you sure the "O/D off" light is working proper? If not, and your wiring to the O/D button, inside the console/shifter, is jacked up, you'll lose overdrive with out having the "O/D off" light illuminate. Real easy fix...article on shotimes.

Wish that was it. Tony checked it out, O/D light works, the code says the overdrive switch (inside the tranny) is bad.

Going to get my A/C fixed this week on blue92 so I'll be a happy camper again.
