I noticed that when I shifted it anywhere whether it be from park or into park, I needed to push the shifter with a pretty firm push, now I know that they shift into drive and all the other ones easy, and you can feel it go by the gears, but with the button in, I have tp pull or push it with a pretty firm effort, the tranny has 120k and never been replaced, could this be on its way out? It shifted smooth in all the grears.. and also the steering wheel shakes bad when on the brake.. rotors?

Hi Shospd,

My '93 has done the same thing sense I bought it at 55Kmi. I think it might be a safety feature and it is the oem tranny. (so you don't go into park while you are doing 6500rpm in reverse?

) As for the front end shaking, I would say that it needs a good front end aliagnment (from personal experience) instead of rotor's. It does not take many *** holes to get it out of wack.

If the steering wheel shakes when you press the brakes hard @ 40 mph + you definately have to resurface the rotors or get new ones.
If you do get new rotors I would suggest you do the '96 brake upgrade mod.

Not for sure exactly what the tranny thing you are talking about entails but I may be better suited to answer after talkin to you on im sometime... the braking sounds like rotors to me & for like $19/each I believe you can get new ones according to Scott(sdpatt) he's only went through probably 15 pair

Other than that I'd say you're definitely taking a risk if the car has 120K on the clock & original tranny but seems some are just workhorses while others are like my own

By the way gauges are on.

I have a 93 atx and the shifter does seem fairly stiff to me, but mine is the only SHO I've driven, so the validity of my opinion my be somewhat limited by experience (or the lack thereof)

I've had two ATX's and they both required a little effort to pull into/ past reverse. Since you need to depress the brake pedal to get it in gear, sometimes it helps if you wait a second after pressing the brake.

Just my two cents worth....
