Ive been throwing around an idea for a location to mount some serious driving lamps. Not your ordinary lamps, but some high output flamethrowers for lonely, dark highways...

I have decent fog lamps in the factory loactions, and would like to leave them there. And I dont want to modify the bumper cover at all, so no drilling for mounts.

BTW: I have a Gen One

The only place I can see fitting would be the factory location for the front turn signals. Those things are HUGE! Plenty of room for driving lamps, and replacement turn signals of some sort.

Im thinking of picking up a junkyard set of headlamp/turn signal housings and fooling around with this scheme.

What do you think?
Has anyone done anything similar?

Well, I guess it depends on how big the driving lights are. But the headlight housings are fairly easy to modify. wink wink

I figured you'd chime in wink as I am well aware of your HID setup...

but I just do not want to go to such an extreme for excellent lighting. Nor do I want to change the overall factory apearance that much.

I'm not sure how well they will fit your desires, but the Sylvania Xenarc 1010 HID's are supposed to be pretty good and should fit the stock openings. They're $400 from Summit, but I'm sure they can be found cheaper elsewhere.
Also, check out this page to get some ideas on some custom lights.

I'm just saying the stock housings are quite easy to modify. They are cheap plastic and can be cut into fairly easy with a dremel tool. You might also want to consider some new lights for the stock holes. I have seen some made by pilot IIRC, and they are a dual fog, and driving pattern (in one light).

Found them:
They are the "DUAL SERIES PL-350"

They would fit nicely in the stock fog light location.
