I had the Drivebright DRLs installed and they are fantastic except when the engine is running and you put on the hazards or turn signals, then they flash erratically and even switch from orange (default for turns) to white.

I've read several reports about these units having issues but those were over a year ago and I thought for sure they might have it figured out by now since they are still offering them for sale on their website.

I reached out to Drivebright and was told

"We have run into this same problem a couple of times recently. We believe we have an issue with a shipment of DRL controllers. We are working to fix the issue and to get new controllers back in stock and to customers having this issue. Please give us some time to work through this. We will send you a new controller box as soon as the fix has been made. Sorry for the inconvenience."

Is this just the canned response? The issue has been reported at least a year ago on the forums.

My ultimate question is do I just disconnect the turn signals and enjoy the fantastic DRLs or is it worth taking Drivebright at their word and replacing the controller once they eventually send it out?

Thanks

They'll replace it. As far as anything being done to fix the actual issue, I'm starting to doubt it as this has been the same response for years. If they can't, or won't fix the failure point, they should put a connector on the module so you don't need to rewire it every time the module takes a crap.

Hi all, Dan Smith here with DriveBright. Just got the heads up on this forum topic and wanted to let everyone know that we have fixed the turn LED flickering problem. It was an issue with the programming. For the last 6 weeks, we have been shipping orders with this new controller programming (200 plus kits) and have had no one contact us with problems. We have also sent out new warranty replacement controllers to all of those customers who had this problem.

Sorry that this had to happen. We are a small company with limited resources and the fix took longer than we had expected. Lost a lot of sleep over it, but it's good to get a full night's sleep once again.

Be sure to contact us on our website if you have any problems with our products. (I don't check forum *** very often). We will do our very best to make you happy.

I can verify that I have received the new controller and it is working perfectly. Thanks Dan for the great customer support!

After seeing the thread, I contacted Dan and pleased to say when it comes to standing by the product he sells he's still a vendor with a high level of integrity. New module sent promptly, most likely wire it back up tomorrow and see how it goes. Great looking lights, he really deserves the issue to be resolved.

Update, it's been a month since the replacement module install and no issues. I have had some of the older modules fail (hyper flash) straight out of the box, this one has been good. The new version also has an added tap wire that allows you to wire the lights to come on when you enter/exit the vehicle if you choose. Once again, I'd like to give Dan high marks for customer service/standing behind his product. While I have had issues with prior modules, he's always made it right without any ******** and it does look great on the vehicle.

***as of 9/3/22-latest is still running fine on my daily

As you can see, I'm not Dan, and I don't work for DriveBright.
But, I ordered and installed this kit October 2021, and I haven't had this issue.
From what I can tell from previous posts, the controller that has the extra wire, allowing for those LED's to illuminate when opening and closing the doors, seem to be the upgraded units.

Install wise, it's pretty easy. And if you have questions, Dan will answer them.
And they stand behind their products. I ordered a set of 6000K HID bulbs from DriveBright, and one of them came broken. I reached out, and they shipped me a replacement quickly, with no cost to me.

The problem has been fixed. We have not had anymore problems with the controller.

Thanks for the kind words about our Taurus LED DRL kits. We have put a lot of time and effort into perfecting these kits. Had a few hiccups, but we are confident we now have a great product. And as CastorTroyN7 mentioned, we have excellent customer service. If something is not right, we will make it right!

I am Dan, by the way. I am always available by cell phone, (913) 304-0720.

Instructions talk about driver side blue wire - 86 it - no need to use the non existent wire, post a version 1 fix I suspect.

Just to help others - pin 1 is the driver side headlamp wire - to white wire from control box to tap into.

Also in the instructions Dan states to plug the 10amp fuse from the fuse box into the adapter. The pictures are not too clear in the included instructions, and I misunderstood, left the 10amp fuse out. Here is where it is supposed to go:

Fuse92

I agree with @Ta2dResqr that the lid doesn't close correctly with the adapter plugged in.

I'm going a different route, but thank you!

Darn, I just noticed my whites don’t come on anymore. The ambers come on when locking and unlocking and when signaling but after locking it is supposed to switch to whites also while driving the whites are supposed to be on.

I looked a little closer and I can see the whites barely coming on and flickering off, I also checked the module and it felt extremely hot.

Anybody else had any issues with the whites stop working and/or the module going bad? This is the new improved module as of about 2 years ago.
