Well I just got my 92 back together and stupid me I forgot how the wiring hooks up to the starter. My guess is thats why the car won't get power. Whe I use a battery pack to jump it and I have + to + and - to - I get nothing. But if I have + to + and - off of the battery pakc to anything else that grounds I get power. But the car still won't start??? My positive wire runs down to the top bolt that holds the starter to the block. And my negative and the other wire run to the solenoid on the other side of the starter. I thought maybe I had the wires mixed up so we used the battery pack as a battery and tested which wire was positive so now we have that figured out.

The way you worded this it sounds to me like you direct shorted your battery by putting the positive on a engine ground spot. I don't have the diagrams infront of me, but sit and think about how electricity runs.

Battery positive and alternator B+ go to the to solenoid (along with a third lead that should be crimped on the same ring terminal as the B+ that then goes to the dist. block), and battery negative goes to the upper stud securing the starter to the block/bellhousing. All the positive leads mentioned go to the side of the solenoid without the braided lead going to the brushes. Don't forget to connect the S-terminal lead to the spade lug on the solenoid too.

Once you get it wired up correctly, if you still can't get the starter to engage, you'll need to start looking at fuses and fusible links that you may have fried by having the starter wired backwards.
