I've come to notice my dome light and locks start acting funny when going downhill on occasion, or after going downhill. The dome light comes on like I just hopped in the car and the locks engage periodically during the same period of time. The only thing I can think it'd be would be either something to do with the alarm or the ignition lock cylinder, it's really worn out so I suspect the position of the keys while going downhill might be what starts it. Any ideas? Anyone else had this problem? I mostly just find it annoying at night. Oh and I've replaced the MFS so that's ruled out. :thankyou:

If the ignition switch is loose that is a good assumption.
Or the drivers door jamb switch may be faulty.

It seems pretty tight and springy, but I suppose there could be something else wrong with it. Any way to really test it besides replacing it?

Edit: Actually come to think of it, I never get a Door Ajar light while driving so chances are it is the lock cylinder.

If you or a previous driver had a heavy keychain, that weight will negatively affect the switch.
Try wiggling the switch next time it happens.

I've tried that but the timer doesn't allow the dome light to turn off quickly enough so I can tell if it's worked or not. I think about all I can do is try and take off all my keys and drive around for a while, see if turns on without any weight hanging off it, or just replace the whole thing. They're like $15-$20, not that big of a deal I suppose.

Ooor not. Held the button for the alarm before I ever began to turn the key and it seems that's what did it. So my alarm is *****, dunno if it's a wiring issue or if it's the control box that's gone bad. I friggin HATE car electrics and wiring.

I think it's either a factory Ford unit or a dealer installed unit. Either way it says "FORD" on it with a blue oval. I'm kinda afraid to remove it, does everything still work after taking it out?

Ah, alright, I'll see if that works :thankyou: Just wasn't sure if it was an addition or if the alarm was spliced into the wiring.
