Do all gen 3's have sumroofs. I know some came with cloth, which doesn't make sense, but do they all have sunroofs?

I was wondering this same thing on the way home from work this morning, Ah the night shift. Does anyone have a list of options for each year? I was wondering if all 3's were sold as loaded or what? Did they all come with cd players as standard? Did they all come with electronic climate control? You get the idea. My car has the cell phone option. There is a small antenna on the roof and microphones are mounted to the headliner just in front of the sunroof. I do not have the phone itself though and do not see where the phone would have been plugged up at, it was supposed to be plugged into the center console according to the manual but I see no such place to plug up a phone in my console. Anyone else have this option?

I'd guess your cell phone was either dealer installed or aftermarket. The oem cell phones had a microphone and button mounted in the A pillar at least in explorers. I've seen a Gen 3 with cloth interior, and before that I didn't even know leather was an option. The CD changer was an option, but climate control was standard.

The cell mic is in the headliner, and it plugs in around the stereo. When I took mine out I had to remove the stereo its self to get to the bolts and disconected it in there as well. If you really want to find out where it goes and what not, you'll find a flat black telephone/T1 looking cable around the peddels. Just rip up the carpet and follow it wherever you want.

I have a moonroof and the cellphone. There is also a Speaker for the phone under the dash on the passengers side. And also mine was installed to be pluged in a loading dock that is mounted next to the shifter on the pasenger side

I only see the cell phone option mentioned in the 1996 brochure. Anyone have a picture of what the phone actually looks like? Did it mount or clip somewhere around the dash, or did it store in the center console?

Edit: Okay I just looked under the dash on the passenger side and found 4 small holes where something was mounted (speaker perhaps?), and there are 3 or 4 small barely visible holes in the carpet on the console on the passenger side as well. I also found some cables, one thin cable with a small connector like a headphone jack, and a larger cable with a connector like a cable TV fitting. these cables were nicely bundled together and zip tied and stuck down behind the carpet on the passenger side under the dash near the door.
Were these cables part of the phone? I wonder why it would have been removed? Assuming that the smaller cable leads to the overhead microphone, is there any way to use this with my personal cell phone?

Mine had the phone system; it was removed immediately due to me not neeeding it and, well, it was dead weight! :thumb: It looked better in the trash can than in my car anyway.

I guess my GEN III has a sunroof; even though it's glass so I call it a moonroof.

My 96 SLO still has the cell phone holder in the center display for the stereo and a little microphone or speaker at the top of the a-pillar and the little attena mounted on the rear window.
I don't mid the antenna, Since I painted it to matc my car but, I don't like the speaker or the holder for the phone. Those are going to have to go SOON.
I'd take a pic but I haven't been able to figure out how to post a pic here. I can post a link to the pic but can't post the actual pic on this site.

Oh and it has the moonroof. What's the difference between moon and sun roof??

Moonroof - Glass, usually tinted
Sunroof - Steel, usually painted to match car

That's my theory.

I never knew that. It makes sense, though.

I, too, have the factory phone. Talk about a dinosaur...it's mounted in the console on a tray that lifts with the lid. If you want access to the handset, there is a thumb button on the side of the tray to separate the lid from the phonetray. I'm leaving it in the car, because so few of them left the factory with this option. By the way, yes, it is analog.

i bought a 96 and the phone system is in the ceter console and the mic is on the headliner in under the rear view mirror, and i was also told that the 96 sho was the only year they came factory with a jbl sound system with a sub woofer in the middle of the deck lid. mine has a broke cam and i wanted to fix it but the price is way to high. so i am in the process of installing my 98 24v v6 in the car and the horsepower is not to much different, but i plan to keep everything for a while till some one makes a aftermarket oem style rebulid kit. or prices come down.
