Disconnecting fuel lines?

So how do i unhook the spring lock couplings for the fuel lines, and AC lines without the special spring lock coupling tool or damaging the lines?

so the tool is pretty easy to find? auto parts store, hardware store...i'll start looking, thanks

i'm taking out the engine, this one of the last little problems that i had to deal with...other than the lake effect snow that has finally decided show up
