I had a bad Jeep Cherokee automatic transmission computer (just the one for the tranny) and it got checked out as well and they couldn't find anything bad...however once I got another one that worked...problem solved, tranny shifted by itself. I believe there are more than resistors that can get burnt up and without sending it to someone that really specializes in the refurbishing then you need to find another computer. Major electrical problems like these really really suck, hopefully we can eliminate it with another computer from a forum member.

Well I think you have it ruled down to the computer then. I have a B9C if you are interested or the other deal falls through.

Well, new computer got put in and STILL NOTHING!!! The car is not reading any signals from it, or basically not communicating with it at all.

NOW WHAT?!?!?

Is the computer getting power? Extremely wierd. There must be some ground or power break somewhere in the harness. Are you 100% that the new computer works? I have a couple of car ECUs sitting in my garage that no longer function from sitting in a junkyard and being exposed to the weather. Damn, now you really have me puzzled...

There is a specific diagnostic procedure for this symptom in the service manuals.

Hopefully, your shop is actually reading a book and not just poking around randomly.

First off, have them check for the +5V Vref power source. If that gets killed, nothing more than the starter will work. Just ask Bizzy.

Make certain they have the troubleshooting procedure and that they are following it.
