Just curious if anyone can give me some insight on what I would be looking for specifically when trying to find a boost leak from looking at logs, my car is losing power and hesitating and I figured logging might be easier than trying to makeshift my own boost leak tester.
Feels like it falls on its face for a second and then gains and loses power intermittently while doing a pull. boost psi stays pretty consistent on my SCT X4. Tightened some loose hose clamps like two or three weeks ago and I thought it helped but it seems like the car is doing the same thing again.

Something is definitely up with it just not sure what yet.

Without knowing more, when it comes to "hesitating"...I'm almost leaning toward a spark issue. Either one of your coils is bad or you're plugs are getting old and the gap has grown...

But this is just preliminary, no further info, type advice...

As XSport said, if your boost is holding steady you likely don't have a leak, but more spark blowout. Any CELs? Can you post a log? Use your laptop and make sure you are logging SPARK SOURCE and TORQUE SOURCE.

When I went through and “tightened” the clamps I checked gap just out of paranoia and it was good, I’ve got no check engine lights and no misfires as far as the data log is concerned but I’m not sure what else to look for

Also I’ve noticed much more psi than normal

So a boost leak would most likely show up as an increase in wastegate duty cycle...

Hesitation and falling on its face COULD be a boost leak, but if you are seeing MORE psi than normal it’s probably not a boost leak...

I would send the log to your tuner and explain to him what is going on..

If you are gonna look for it yourself you need to check...

Throttle position
Torque source
Fuel rear pressure
Fuel rear pressure dsd
WGDC
Spark v2
Tip pressure
Tip pressure dsd

And more but those will at least give your the obvious signs of something off...

thanks for the input and reply! I currently am not running a tune and do not have anyone that I use for tuning,I do have a “tuner” as in the device itself tho I’ve got a log set up with those plus more on it so I’ll do a log or two and see if I can see anything obviously crazy looking.

As was mentioned please feel free to post a datalog and we can take a look. I mentioned the tuner as some tuners don’t like datalogs of their tunes posted. Also, tuners make adjustments and what looks off could be something they are intentionally doing for another reason.

Quick suggestion in live link is to use the “Save View” option on the portion of the datalog you want to share. Makes a much smaller file.

Have you checked for codes on your tuner? Because I never had any Check engine lights either. But when I checked codes the one for low boost was there. I never new it was my first SHO. I felt it had great power. But when I became tuned my tuner said I have a bad boost leak. So I checked around the car , and found the C clip for the wastage rod was missing. On the front turbo. Replaced that and I was full boosting. Man what a difference. There’s a long story with this whole ordeal. But I will stop here. Already rambled enough. Good luck.
