Aighty...here's my issue. I got a 92 with a fog lamp mod. We've (me and the previous owner both) have had issues with the headlight switch....well, actually, the harness. When I bought the car, the headlight switch didn't work, but the autolamps did. The previous owner had another switch, but didn't have the gumption to put it in. Well, I did. And when I took the old switch off, the middle of the wiring harness looked all burnt and melted. Well, a lil convincing with a screwdriver helped the new headlight switch to work properly. Then, come to find out, the foglight mod had been shoddily done. Basically, bare wires hanging hither and yon blowing fuses left and right. After I fixed that with the proper connectors, the dash lights started acting up. With the parking lights on, the dash don't light up and the fog lights don't come on. Turn on the headlights, and away we go...everything works. But if I turn on the high beams, it all goes dark again. Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this? It sucks not being able to see very far when I'm coming into work in the morning.

Try replacing the harness for the headlight swith. The fact that it is melted and burnt could have something to do with it

The problem is that the interior lights are now on a switched relay from the foglights.

The foglight switch itslef is illuminated. In the SHOtime instructions, it recommends to use the park light as a the switch instead of the head-olight relay. That's why they are shutting off when you flick the hi-beams on.

You need to get in there with a test light and check which wires are hooked up. I'll wager you hooked up the wrong wire.

the foglight swicth has the following wires:

1, Interior illumination
2, headlight relay (off/on)
3, power
4, ground

You have hooked your interrior illumination wire to your head-light relay.

You need to hook the headlight relay (from switch) to another ignition switched source (from harness).

The headlight relay wire from the harness should be taped off.

How to tell which wire is which:

1, Remve the fog-light switch from the pannel to access the back, leave it plugged in.

2, with a good ground, probe each connector on the backside of the plug.

One will light up when you turn on the park-lights. This is the interior illumination

one will light up when you turn on the head-light. This is the head-light relay.

one will light up when you flick the foglight switch (with the headlights on) on.

one is ground and will do nothing when probed.

3, make sure you cut the head-light relay wire. The harness coming from the dash should be taped off. the other side (switch side), Leave at least 2" so you can strip it and add a butt connector. Add a lenght of wire to it and run this to a wire from the fuse panel that is on only when the key is in the run postion. Splice the wire in and the foglights will be able to turn on anytime the car is running.

if you need more help...
