OK, just did the 60k on the new 91 plus, and I still have an oil leak just forward of the CPS sensor. I can not tell exactly where the leak is coming from, but my best guess is the oil pump housing. My question, is this likely and what is involved with changing the gasket on it? I really need to get this thing back on the road ASAP. Has anyone else had this problem? It is not the crank or the cam seal.

How do you know that it is not a cam seal? The intake cam seals, the front bank seal in particular, shows itself inside the timing belt area, around the CPS.

Please use a subject line descriptive of your car's problem - not yours. You'll get more results.

We have pulled all the timing covers and such and have traced the leak around a bolt leading through the oil pump. I too thought that it was the cam seals, but I can clearly see where it is coming from now. But I am still wondering if I have to drop the pan to change the oil pump gasket or not. I am saying yes, my friend is saying no. Can anyone settle this before we begin tearing it apart in the morning?

The oil pan seals against the bottom of the Oil pump. You will have to lower at least the front half of the pan to get the oil pump out. Because the SHO pan uses gasket maker to seal all along ths edges of the pan, I doubt you would get it sealed again without dropping the whole thing, replacing the front and rear gaskets, and applying fresh Black RTV.

The oil pan gasket has not ever been replaced (only 70,000 miles). But she is 13 years old, so I am sure stuff is going to fail. Either way, it looks like I am going to be pulling the pan?

the surface where the oil pan and oil pump meet requires a rubber seal. the seal can be replaced without dropping the pan. the oil pump to block is a paper gasket. to replace the oil pump gasket, the crank dampner needs to come off.

i have both the oil pump gasket and pan seal if you need them.
