Hi all! I have a 15 SHO, last summer I replaced the pads and rotors but did OEM replacements from autozone. They were alright for a few months but around the spring time they started squeaking like crazy. I pulled them off and there is still plenty of pad, no real reason they should be making so much noise.

Also high speed braking is awful, crazy vibration (not in the peddle), and a whining/load roar noise as I'm stopping. Mechanics keep telling me everything is fine but I know how the SHO brakes worked before I replaced them. Seriously debating buying the dealership pads and rotors, thinking autozone can't gold up to the performance package on braking. But I wanted to see if anyone else has had this experience with autozone brakes not being the greatest.

Did you replace the rotors too? Sometimes a warped rotor can cause squealing, uneven surface hitting the pad just right like finger tip to a rim of a glass. Also repeated hard braking can glaze the pads and produce some squeal.

I had a very similar issue, Not autozone but powerstop. My car had the same roaring and vibrating under high-speed heavy braking when I bought it. I replaced the pads with powerstops "pi" spec brakes and they've been squealing ever since. The roar all but went away, still there but way less noticeable. I even sanded the pads a couple times, helps for a day or 2 and back to howling. My plan is to replace pads and rotors with a kit from R1 concepts

I did the rotors and pads, but I have factory brakes and rotors prior to the autozone replacements and I had 0 problems. Admittedly I rode them to the end and even at that point none of the roaring/vibrating.

Even though the pads and rotors are a little more than a year old they have gone through heavy breaking. My dad lives 120 miles from me outside of DC, and I was goinf to visit every weekend, rush hour in that area is constant and hard braking.

I know the feeling, all stop and go for my commute. You may want to try having the rotors turned, some what inexpensive way to ensure they're true. Believe it or not rotors can warp on the shelf and can be a little off out of the box especially if dropped or crushed in shipping. The hard braking will definitely take its toll as well. I would get some pads from the dealer and have a shop put the rotors on a laithe, fresh pads on true rotors shouldn't have any noise

when you say OEM, Ford? did they provide the PP brakes? my brakes have under 30K original, and get squealing out of the passenger side after driving lively, or stop and go highway.

Reviving this post since I finally did the turbos it was time to address whatever brake problem I was having. Decided to entirely scrap my autozone pads and rotors and go with parts from the dealership.

Driver side pads looked fine, but I replaced everything anyway. Passenger side inner pad was toast and the outer was fine. Crossed my fingers and hoped it was maybe a sticking slide pin, replaced all of those too and the rubber boots. Took it for a drive to bed them in and everything seemed fine until I did the 50mph with hard braking. No issues braking but after release it sounds like the passenger side is still problematic. As much as I didn't want to do the caliper I think it's my next move. Regular braking is fine but anything hard and it sounds like the pad is dragging, it is louder while braking but even when I release the pedal the noise stays :/

when doing brakes, it is essential to service the calipers too. all kinds of problems arise from not greasing the slide pins, boots, etc. use a hi temp grease like this one

Note that if you replace brake pads get the semi metallic pads. Do NOT use the self proclaimed ceramic pads. They're good for no dust but will heat up extremely fast under heavy repeated braking at high speeds. You can warp rotors fast that way as well as glaze over the pads and have little to no stopping power due to brake fade. It's not fun as I've dealt with heated rotors and pads from another car I have. Safety over ****** parts. Id rather live with some brake dust vs having no braking power.

I got the pads directly from the dealership, didn't love the price tag but worth it to get them.
