cranks but no start

97 has 112,000 runs great not to many problems . drove yesterday fine .went to start this morning and not starting just cranks . any ideas

Fuel pump is a possibility. Start with basic three: fuel spark and air. There is a lot of good stuff at v8sho as shodded mentioned. Doing a rebuild on a 99, keep us posted.

As sperold mentioned about the cams. From what I've read if theyre not welded, they will fail any time. Thats why my SHO is tore up now to weld them. If they do, a condition exactly as you described would occur. Cranking away but with no compression it will not start, not saying its surely a cam. Check for compression to see if you have bent valves from a failed spun cam. Hope it's a small repair, best of luck mate.

Been almost a month now and no feedback from OP. I'll chime in and say that the crank position sensor can get gunked up with oil over time. It's what caused a no-start condition with me a couple of months ago.
