Crank shaft main bearing problem resolved

So instead of making that jig and re-fitting the tang location, could we just remove the tangs with a file/grinder? I see that a lot of new engines are "tangless" just to save a few pennies in the manufacturing steps.

Reason I ask is that my main bearings look like below and debating re-using them or going the toyota route. I just ordered the toyota bearings to inspect them.

I too thought of this, but we will never know if the crush is safe enough to run or not, I'm gonna as my local machine shop if they could machine new tang locators on the block and main caps.

poor condition I think. Toyota way is not so difficult. Think you should not try to machine the block for a new tag locators. better way is make a new tag on the bearing
