Well, I'm back ..after letting my SHO sit on the streets for 6 months, getting a denver boot and paying the fines.... my new infinti 2000 i30t was just not cutting it, performance wise, and I just missed the SHO

I took the car apart in the wiinter because I noticed a tick tick sound. I found the problem- crank cancer. Because this was in the winter i didnt feel like working on the car so i ended up bying another one. Now the time has come to try and fix it.

After finally getting the harmonice balacer off today...WHAT A PAIN! (i have done this before without a problem! dont know y it was difficult this time!)
I saw a loose fitting crank pully. It looked like there was a little bit of play between the key. The key had also shredded just a bit. I plan on taking off the crank pully tomorrow to see what damge has been done to the crank. I dont think its that bad. The problem I face is getting a crank pully and key for an ATX. Is this the same part no's for MTX? I also think my CPS is bad from the dust. ANy comments welcome :hail:

Well, your biggest concern is if the crank cancer damaged the crankshaft at all or just the pulley and other parts. If the crankshaft is damaged too much the motor is toast. If not, you will need a new pulley, timing gear, woodruff key, and a CPS to be safe.

Also, don't forget to torque it to 119lbs, with locktite on the bolt.

Correct, when the bolt lossens it allows the pulley (harmonic balancer) and the timing gear to rock back and forth on the woodruff key (which is what shredded it). While it rocks back and forth it increases the key way in the pulley and timing gear, rendering them useless. It can also do this to the crankshaft which is the biggest problem facing you right now. The pulley, key, and timing gear can be replaced. However, the crankshaft...well that means new motor.
