Ok, the Tri State camping trip is coming up this week. I plan on leaving for Indiana on wed to stay at my sisters for a few days before hand. Heres my problem:
My car Stalls occasionally. And has been doing it a bit more frequently lately. I will just be driving, and it will stall. Most of the time it is after I let my foot off the gas. The revs will drop below 1k, and then it will either rebound back to normal, or the car will stall. After it stalls, I have to wait a minute or two before it will restart. I was thinking this may be a bad CPS. My ATX has 80k miles on it, and I havent done the 60k yet for finacial reasons. I also figured, if it was a bad CPS, I mine as well replace the Water Pump while I had all that crap off the car. Also, when upshifting, the cars revs will drop to almost a stall. It only does this right after I start the car though, ut is very annoying. So, my question, is this a bad CPS or something else?

I also need to know how much work I a getting into if I want to replace both. I am pretty good with cars, and have done a lot of work on them before. Am I looking at a 3 hour job or 8 hour job? I plan on doing this all on Wed morning, before I head to my sisters, so I kind of need help with it in a hurry. thanks in advance for any help.

i did it in about 6 hours. The crank Damper held me up a little bit. It's a tough job but not so tough that you can't do it.

I think if it's a bad CPS it will just stall. I don't think the revs will go down, it was just plain shut off. The CPS I don't think ever goes bad unless you get coolant on it from the waterpump. Thats the only time i've heard of a bad CPS. It's worth a try though. It's very possible that I am wrong. Good Luck.

try turning your ac off for a bit to see if it will still stall. Almost sounds like a IAC getting slow.

It could also be a weak fuel pump. That does not sound like a CPS failure. When the CPS fails, the engine cuts off like you turned off the ignition key. Does it stall only when the engine can't hold the idle speed with the clutch in? If so, you may just need to reset the idle programming.
