Okay....the wife wants a cowl hood on her car....preferably carbon fiber, but she wants good quality....something that's not gonna seperate, and preferably without hood pins, as well. At this point, she'll take what she can get, but she wants above.....and not a fiberglass sandwhich...any suggestions?

LOUDSHO92 (Matt) is your contact.
good pricing, ships out of California.
here's mine w/out pins.
once you receive it, PM me and i'll advise you on how to modify your hood receiver across the core support so that it fits flush without any pins.
also, where/how to mount the washer nozzles so that you don't have to drill any holes.

i live in the Los Angeles area.
had to drive 70 miles each way.
$320 (cash) which is the published price if you call Carbon EFX.
you'll have to pay for shipping.
work it out with Matt.
from what i understand, you won't be paying the high price that was quoted during the group buy awhile back.

BTW, it makes a huge difference in under hood temps.
runs cooler and cools off quickly after stops.
if anything else, will prolong engine life.

Here's a crappy pic of mine with new 99 headlamps, so you see what it looks like on a lighter color.

How is the fit? Alot of those I have seen have larger than normal gaps between the fenders and the front bumper cover.

The fit is far from perfect. I'm not too impressed with mine but it saves about 40 lbs or more so I'll keep it.

the fit is fine if you modify (lower) the receiver across the core support, and then loosen the hinges to get proper alignment and re-tighten.

i have no gaps and it came off the same line as all of yours.

does the cowl hood help with under hood temps any or is it just for looks?
YES! Considerably at that. From my observation, about 15 degrees cooler. The best part is, when you hit traffic, or have long periods of idle, one little sprint down the road brings the temps back down to where highway temps normally are. If it prolongs the coil packs, it will pay for itself :)
Only gripe I have is: once I modified the latch in front of the fans (to get it to close just right) several months later it went from a PERFECT fit to NOW the hood sits a tad lower than the fender at each headlamp.
IMHO, the cowl hood makes the SHO complete in appearance, especially the gen.3 :nut:
Lowering the sho will be my next spending spree.

The gap at the sides is terrible. I had Kirk's bodyguy install mine and he did the best he could but the fit is far from OEM-like.

here's mine on a red gen3.

also my fit wans't 100% until I put the hood pins on then it fit just about perfect. The gap along the sides arn't 100% PEREFCT but it's pretty damn close. It's REALLY close to OEM perfect. I don't know what others opions are on "Far from OEM like" but, mine is really close.
Maybe he can gives us some pics of his hood and the crappy gaps along the side?

here's a front end view.
866.jpg

each side very straight. maybe 1/16-1/8" off front to back.
slight down curl on the drivers side front corner.
also, behind driver's headlight has a small gap.
but accross the front is tight and flush.

all done w/out pins.

Yeah, mine fits REALLY well. Almost 100%, and if you talk to some... they may say it is 100%, but I know all my flaws ;)

And, if you havent seen already i live in NJ, so my next question is about how much would shippin be? Also, is there anyother companies that make it. if anyone could help me that would be appreciated
