correct timming procedure

just finished swapping a set of heads on my 3.4l, now i need to know the correct way to set up the timing via timing chain, so #1 at TDC and both cam sproket indentation at 12 oclock? what about balancer shaft mark?

alright thanks! as for TDC is that piston at very top stroke? or keyway on crank matching notch in oil pump cover? also the orientation of the balancer shaft too??

Balance shaft index mark on the sprocket goes DOWN like in the drawing (more or less the dot will be in the middle of where the chain's contact range is).

Best practice to confirm ##1 TDC is to put a nice long 3/8" extension in the #1 plug hole, that way you can see where #1 is at TDC by slowly turning the crank over that range. That stupid keyway lined with rib is about as imprecise as marking it with chalk.
