Has anyone changed their coolant tank? I talked to the guys at the e bay site that has replacements. I asked if they had one for the 99 SHO. they told me they had the one for a 3.0 but I want to know if it is the same as what we have or do I need to modify the one they sell. Also is anyone using a X cal2. I have spoken to Paul and am ready to upgrade the pcm. My car is a daily driver. The cams are welded, third cat is now gone and a KN filter will be installed at the same time of the flash, I am just looking for alittle more pressure to the trans, which has been rebuilt right before i bought it by a Ford transmission tech. Paul has recomended the X cal1, and I have no reason to doubt him, just wondering what the difference is with the X cal2

A SHO has a low coolant sensor and the cheap $20-$25 aftermarket tanks for 3.0's do not. It will fit but you will have to bypass the sensor or look at the light until it burns out.

Yeah this is the issue for my SHO, the low coolant lite is on and want it to go off. So the one on e bay does not fix this lite on? Has anyone had any success cleaning off the sensor in the bottom of the tank. It must be the sludge making the contacts send the lite on me thinks?

Um, I bought one from ebay, for the Duratec (same as the SHO for the tank) and it has the sensor in it

Not that I would doubt Paul, but for the money, get the Xcal2 from NESHO through Paul.

Unplug the senor at the tank to eliminate the light.

I do not recommend a Xcal 1 over a Xcal 2 with regard to functionality. But the Xcal 1 can be had cheaper because it would be used.

After you pay for shipping you get to about the same price that AutoZone sells them for. If there's a problem, a local return is always easier. You can get the tank for the regular Taurus-- just get the one specified for the 24v car.

The plastic is better suited and they are clear on the top. This allows you to better see the coolant flowing.

That certainly sounds useful. Is there only one supplier on Ebay, or several, and if there are more than one, which one(s) are supplying the good ones?

Interested readers will want to know. :)

These are very cheap from the dealer.. I woulndt try to save $$ on ebay.

When my coolant tank developed a crack, the dealer was highly unreasonable for a replacement. If memory seves me correct, the price was in excess of $60.00. A trip to a local junkyard coupled with five minutes of my time and $10.00 later, I had an exact replacement from a 24V Taurus. The dealers are crooks plain and simple.

I know DANA supplies alot of the aftermarket ones. Looking at the failure rate of the oem unit I would not hesitate to try aftermarket.

Yes, I find that interesting, since everyone tells me they go like mad, but I keep an eye on mine and it is the original and still doing fine. It stays pretty cool up here year round, compared to the lower US anyway. I wonder if that leads to a longer life expectancy before the tank gets cracks?
