Well, this has happened three times, all the times when is was raining out or snowing. I start the car up at school and let it sit for like two minutes. As I apply the gas rpms go up like normal. Then I stop to make my turn and then the engine dies. I put it in park and crank but she wont turn over so I apply full throttle so she can breath. She turns over, I let off the gas and the revs drop and car dies again. So this time determined not to have the school laughin at my cars misfortune, i turn it over full throttle, but this time I keep the revs at 1800 in neutral apply the brakes so I to keep the car from neutral dropping and i keep the brake applied while i wait for the opening to turn to keep the revs up and make my way home. I get home which is only 1 mile away and the car stays running. I let it sit for an hour started it up and took it for a drive and no problem. Other than this problem the engine trans ect runs like the car is brand new. Full power no bog no rough idle, just this dying when shes cold and its rainning out. Could a sensor be getting wet? I'm baffled. Hope this is enough info.

In my '93 MTX does the same thing (won't restart until you apply full throttle)....but mine is a random problem that only happens when I stall the car at a stop light/sign by not giving it enough gas. I was told my problem sounds like a cam sensor, but if you car actually stalls I would think more towards crank sensor.

If you have to manually open the throttle to keep the engine from dying at idle, then your idle air control valve is not doing its job. Check the electrical connector to the IAC valve. Also try resetting the idle programming. If these don't correct the problem, clean or replace the IAC valve.

If the crank sensor fails, your engine would cut off as if you turned off the ignition key. No throttle position from closed to wide open will help the engine start or idle if the CPS is not providing a signal since there would be no spark.
