They are definately sweet. Mine are about half done (dis-assembled). I'm re-using my old Konis and found one was leaking so I'm sending it out for a warantee rebuild. I'm also sand blasting and powder-coating my housings and upgrading brakes. Should be awesome when it's finished.

Shawn, here are the coilover weights. Front unit weighs 14 lbs 7 oz. Rear unit weighs 17 lbs 15 oz.

I also weighed a stock unit to see the difference. It weighed 19 lbs 12 oz. The coilover is a 5 lb 5 oz savings over stock! Not sure on the stock rear, but I would assume it weighs about the same as the front. The spring is smaller but the mounting cups weigh more. So a likely 2-3 lbs saving there. That is around a 16 lb savings overall. That more than makes up for the added weight of the SFC's.

mine are sitting on my floor, next to my y pipe, SFC, H brace and 80mm MAF. i am going to do new sway bars and brakes too, so when i get those and it gets warmer i will install it all. are there any bushings that should be replaced at the same time? i wasn;t sure what was retained. i just don;t want to spend 2 grand on a suspension and have it feel liek shit because 3 pieces of rubber are old. thanks

I would replace or upgrade your bushings at the same time (sway bar, strut rod, etc). Performance Plus sells the entire F&R set of poly bushings for $90. For a little softer ride you may want to stick with stock rubber, but then if your biggest concern was soft ride you would not have got the coilovers.

BTW, don't feel bad. I have to replace my engine before I can do anything else. That is going to be fun now that school has started. By the Convention though my mod list will be huge!

Thanks for posting those weights, that's what I have been looking for. I'd like to see some detailed pics if anybody has a digital camera and wants to email me.

[email protected]

Did you weigh a factory stock spring/strut? My rear tokico/eibach assembly (w/ strut mount) is 23 lbs. The eibach springs may be a tad heavier than stock. The tokico struts as well.

Still, looks like an honest 20 lbs savings (maybe a handfull more) over stock. For a guy like me, that's a bunch! You'd be amazed at how fast you can trim off weight, 20 lbs here, 10 lbs there, 13 lbs here. Before you know it you've dropped 150 lbs.

What did you do to your motor? Or is this a 3.2L drop in?

Spun a rod at the road course. The sad thing is (as if blowing the motor isn't sad enough), this was in July! And I did not even take the car off insurance! Anyway, I now have the new motor (65k) about ready with the new cams and will be making the swap in a week or two (hopefully).

The weight listed was for a stock front unit. The rear probably does indeed weigh more thanks to the bigger mount. 23 sounds about right. Remember too, that my coilovers have the Koni inserts. Coilovers on the stock strut would be even a little lighter.

Was this during the convention? How many miles on the old motor?

A guy in '98 from GA spun a bearing at Mid ohio, with like 270,000 miles on his '89 (at the time). Nice guy, had lunch with him one morning. Robert Tingle was his name I think, was he at this past convention? He had gone to all of them when I met him.

3.0l, during the Convention, 110,000. It had been making a noise for a while. Now I know better. I have a block and a set of heads that I have some plans for in the future. I figure during my next clutch job I might as well do a 3.2 swap and LSD. That is going to be one expensive clutch job
