Hello

I noticed my 91 taurus had a slight miss to it so i started wiggling things and noticed the coilpack had a piece broken on it where it connects to the sparkplug wire, so it doesn't hold the wire very well.

Where I live sho's are super rare it seems like the wreckers never have them, so my nxt thought is maybe an after market coilpack would be the way to go. i hear the accel unit is not worth getting and the only other company is screaming demon i read somewhere that the mustang 6cylinder coilpack works? Just wondering if anybody has any thoughts on this.

Other than that I am probably stuck to buying a used coilpack off ebay, not sure on the life span of one of these.

so yeah just wondering what I should do.

thanks

Go to shosource and rcmautomotive and rockauto and look over the selection of coils they feature with the brand names. All of these places will give you advice through their customer service department.
Buying used coils is not crazy either, they are very well made.
First, figure out if your miss is actually that not so stable wire attachment, it may not be.

Coil packs don't generally go bad very often. Obviously yours is physically broken so that would be a problem, but IIRC any Ford 6-cylinder from that era used the same coil pack; the only difference was a little plastic nub on the connector to key it. You just slice it off and it works fine. The coil pack on my '95 is from an Exploder, I think.

AZ and AAP sell coil packs for the SHO. I don't know why you don't just go there and order one... www.rockauto.com has them for sure, and they'll deliver anywhere the USPS does.

Contact Dan Barbush (SvHoDan on the forum) and see if he has any used ones to sell. His prices are very reasonable. After that I would look for Ray at midnightauto on ebay and see if he has a used one to sell.
