can someone please tell me if there is a link to how to use the paperclip thing to pull the codes, and the correct way to do so, mine is 95atx. I just got a newly rebuilt trans last week, and was doing great (atleast for a couple of days) until yesterday, when it left me stranded with a trunk full of groceries trying to pull out of kroger with heat advisories here in humid ass ky. It decided to die unexpectedly and would start back up, but within minutes flutter and die again. I finally got it started back up, left it overnight at my parents apartment building, and had my mechanic come this morning, when it decided to run perfect...again. So he had a hard time trying to figure out what was wrong with it, but eventually decided to replace (and waste $ on) the coil pack, after checking the maf, and saying it wasnt bad. After reading on here, i think i have figured out where my next problem is lying, and that would be my leaking gasket on my water pump, that is causing my cps to foul out? Does it matter if u are parked on an uphill/downhill slant causing the water leak to hit/roll to the cps directly, or does it make any difference? I have in excess of $500 parts in my trunk(including new water pump) waiting to be put on, but before i have all these things replaced, i would like to try and pull the codes, as my check engine light never goes off. I have already replaced numerous other things and would like to see what she is telling me now. :) anyway, i searched on here, and have yet to find instructions on how to pull the codes, also, one with pics would be nice, hoping i can do this myself, thanks in advance for any info. have a good one!

You can always see if the local Autozone or other parts store has an OBDI code reader. They will plug it in and read the codes for you. Then you can take the info and figure out what to do from there. Some places only have OBDII and up readers available for free use.

yea, tried that here a while back, and the only ones around here are 96 and up, so either i have to pay someone who has the old style one, which i have i the past or try and figure it out my self. I personally do not think diagnostics should cost..but thats just me :)
