While i had the Car in for other issues i asked the dealership to diagnose the hesitation. They are saying that there are codes for the MAP sensor and that its the likely issue. its a 3 bar map, and the car is tuned ( i dont know what tune its running but im betting livernois)

Has anyone else had issues with this?
Im trying to figure out if i should order a new MAP sensor. Ive already cleaned it with MAF cleaner.

I picked up the car and its a disaster, my best guess is that the MAP sensor gave out while at the dealer. A CEL was on and a big wrench in the info display.
It cut off the first attempt to start, its incredibly slow, I checked with torque, it doesnt seem to be creating any boost at all, it wont rev past 3.5k rpm when shifting, and the TPS never goes past 43%. I dont know if its actually making boost and the map cant see it, but my best guess is the car is in some sort of LIMP mode limiting throttle, and boost.

I know you are supposed to be able to buy the F150 sensor as a 3 bar map replacement, does anyone have the part#?

Did the dealership perform any ECU updates? If they updated the ECU based on a stock system, it will run as you describe with a 3 bar MAP installed. If you were to put a stock MAP in and it runs fine, then you will need to get an updated tune for the new ECU load.

My suggestion would be to ask the dealer if they did any updates to the ECU, and if so, install a stock MAP for the time being until you can get an updated tune.

The dealer Knows the car is modified, and told me i couldnt return it to stock. I was told all they did was drive it and run scans. I will verify on monday, its possible the other dealership might have done something.

Oil/sludge from the intercooler got onto the MAP? See if it's dirty.
It was cleaned right after i bought the car, I also took it off last night and inspected/ cleaned. As soon as i restarted the car it posted the code.
Im beginning to suspect SHOrod is right that the first dealer re-flashed the ECU when they did the oil sensor.

Called the first dealer, they said they did not reflash the car. Im going to just order a new 3 bar from RA, and over night it.

I ordered this : MOTORCRAFT CX2231 {#AA5Z9F479B} [Manifold Pressure (MAP) Sensor]
Can someone please confirm this is the right 3 bar? I saw a thread on Ecoboost forums saying some of the Cx2231 part numbers arent 3 bars

I replaced the MAP, Absolutely zero change. Do i need to disconnect the batter to reset the ECU or something?

Edit:
I tried leaving the battery disconected, it took three tries before it would start and stay running. i got O2 sensor stuck lean codes this time (yay) and on the third try it started fine. Still stuck in whatever limp mode where throttle wont go past 40% Oddly though the code for the map stays as a historical fault, it does not show up as a new code. The only other Idea that i can think to do is buy a stock MAP and see if it runs right. Maybe the dealer did update the ECU and "forgot"

I could use some ideas, im beyound out of patience with this car.

Any ideas? Could it be the other sensor by the air intake? Im about to order the stock sensor to see if it was re flashed and they wont tell me.
If that doesnt work im Putting both sensors back in the box, and sending the car back to the dealer.

There are two MAP sensors. I think that, since you have a 3 bar map on the intake manifold, they are interchangeable now. I would try replacing the other one with the one you removed. Can't hurt in this situation

The sensor that is with the air filter box is an IAT sensor. Wonder if that is actually the sensor that has failed and the dealer was mistaken when they told you MAP sensor? That one can, in theory, be contaminated by an over oiled K&N type filter.

Good luck!

Thanks for the response, I meant to say the sensor near the TB not the airbox.
I ordered the stock sensor, Ill try swapping the second sensor tonight. I also saw a new process for clearing the KAM that involves leaving the headlights on when disconnecting the battery.
If none of these work, then its going back to the dealer. Ill get them to reflash the ECU back to stock, (since i have an oem sensor coming) then they cant blame the tune.

The Stock MAP fixed it. its still having issues with the trans, so its going back to dealer in a few weeks when i have some more cash to deal with it.
Despite my having asked, one of the dealers must have flashed the ECU. The dealer also put a full tank of gas in it, i have no idea if its 93 or not (im betting not)
im interested to try and see what the performance numbers are now.
