CODES FROM A 93 TAURUS with SABEL motor

The Check Engine Light turns continuesly on when driving between 40 - 80 km/hr with no noticable change in performace. The results from the KOEO test are as follows: 113,171,172,181,628,646,647. The results from the KOER are as follows: 411, 538. Although not a SHO, but a distant cousin, support would be appreciated in trouble shooting the problem.

113 - IAT sensor is/was high or open

171 - Oxygen sensor not switching - system was at adaptive limits - Single Right or Rear HO2S

172 - Oxygen sensor not switching - system is or was lean - Single Right or Rear HO2S

181 - Fuel system was lean at part throttle Single Right or Rear HO2S

411 - Idle speed system not controlling idle properly (generally idle too high)

538 - System did not receive "goose" test

628 - Excessive converter clutch slippage

646 - Transmission 2nd gear failure

647 - Transmission 3rd gear failure

Get a new IAT sensor, and new O2 sensors

Reset the computer and see if anything else comes up!

If your temperature was below 50 F, do NOT replace the IAT. Ignore that code.

Start with the resetting and see what pops up first.
