Like many other people on this site i also have bought the sho from ****. Since i bought the car 3 months ago i have only put 150k on it. The rest of the time has been spent working on it and discovering all the splendor that is the Yamaha V6. Very rarely have i experienced what these cars are supposed to do. My car( 95 MTX) will only run good after it sits for a while, like overnight. But once you shut it off and restart it it runs like a POS. It hesitates, sputters, bogs down, and has no power. I just ran the codes after a CEL and got a 172. Anybody have a clue as to what may be causing this?I also have another article which i think maybe related (bad fuel squirter outer). If any of these questions seem redundant i'm sorry but I am losing my mind. But like most Sho enthusiasts I'm determined to fix this *%*$&*# thing.

Wow 150K in 3 months...thats like 1700 miles a day, do you commute? Just joking around... The 172 code indicates an O2 sensor problem, I would check to see if those are functioning correctly and replace them if they are not. If it is sputtering do a KOER (engine running) test and see what the EEC comes up with.

If you give us some background on the repair and service history of the car maybe we can more accuratly help pinpoint your problem.

Good luck. thumb

Sounds like a very odd problem. So it runs perfectly until you shut it off and restart? Even immediately after the restart? If so I would suspect an EEC type problem or even MAF.

As MOSHO92 said:

172 - Oxygen sensor not switching - system is or was lean - Single Right or Rear HO2S

Looks like you can begin with the O2 sensors.

If you haven't done so already I would change your fuel filter. When they are clogged they cause more problems then you might realize.

First let me correct that. It's 150 miles in 3 months. I checked the o2 sensors as per the article on shotimes.com and the o2 sensors seem to be functioning fine. However the front one was loose. I took them out bench tested them and reintsalled them. The car still has no throttle response and is a little sluggish. Has any one ever tried the bench test of the o2 sensors? Is that an accurate test? I ordered new sensors( they havent come in yet) but they are $180.00. I dont want to spend that if they aren't the problem. Where else should i look for something that could be causing the problem? headbang headbang headbang

$180? They're $50 each for the Bosch at AutoZone.
