any idea's or help would be appreciated greatly.

here's the scenario:
I had been reading some of your posts on the TPS sensor (...more responsive etc.), when low and behold, the very next day, the CEL comes on...Code 124. hooooraaaaay, now i have to replace it. so i do with the Wells TPS215 part number. Everything is cool. About 1,500 miles later CEL again, same Code 124. So i check the connections (everythings OK), then the Chilton's and find out i didn't line up the "tabs/ears" properly (I corrected it, lined the tabs up and turned it clockwise - everything's OK). I drive around another 200 miles or so and CEL again same Code 124.

Is there something I am doing wrong?
Also my chilton's calls for a red seal or something and it didn't come on the new part and I don't think it was on the old one. Could this be the culprit?

Also, I have been "clearing" the codes, by pulling my jumper while running the KOEO test. This is correct right?

B.T.W.
I'm getting the Code 565 Purge Canister Solenoid, first every time i run the codes now. Could these two be related? How hard is the purge can. sol. to replace?

Any advise is appreciated.

Thanks in Advance thumbs_u

Doesn't sound like it.

Yep.

Not very. Trace the line from the intake port next to the throttle body. It will lead to the CANP valve, then on to the canister. One electrical plug and two vacuum lines. Around 25-30 bucks aftermarket.

Your 124 problem sounds like an intermittent connection. Maybe contact cleaner in the TPS connector plug might help, otherwise, I would think you have an intermittent open circuit in the TPS connector to EEC circuit.

Good luck.

Napa, Fry's.

BS. There is no such beast. Unless they're talking about the red rubber electrical gasket inside the electrical connector portion of the TPS. Your old one should have one as should your new. Keeps moisture out of the electricals.

well i think i've got it this time.

i put a new battery in and thought, "why not try the TPS again". So i bought the part at Advance Auto this time GP Sorensen (sp?) sensor this time though. I open the box, and low and behold, there is that little red seal/connector (almost like a grommet). I have about 350 miles on since the change and no CEL.

A word of advice for you guys, when changing this part out with a Wells TPS215, "DON'T FORGET TO TAKE THE RED OVAL SEAL/GROMMET OUT OF THE OLD PART", i bough three of the Wells sensors and not one came with it.

thanks for the help guys as always you've come through.
