I recently replaced my steel flywheel with a lightweight 7.5lb aluminum one. When I did that I replaced the disc with a valeo disc. The pressure plate I used had only twenty thousand miles on it as did the disc and tob. It was a luk kit. I got a disc for fifty dollars on RA and I installed it.
I had the flywheel resurfaced, and I ground down the dowel pins. I waited what I thought was long enough for break in. I put 800 miles on the car about 200 was highway. The driving I do is mostly rural.
When I shifted fast into second the other day for the first time it slipped when I let the clutch out. I'm going to pull the trans today more than likely. I know I glazed the disc.
I'd like to see some suggestions. I think I didn't wait long enough for the break in, maybe it takes longer with this type of flywheel? I had no issue using this pressure plate when the engine and trans was installed in my old car.
It sucks because I would've been fine if I just left it when I installed the engine and trans. I'm probably going to save up for a stage two/three. I was going to get a clutchmasters, but i'm worried about slipping issues. thanks
