Clutch petal feels heavy on 92 SHO

Not really a maintenance question. More like a just want to know. Anyway the clutch petal on my 92 SHO is heavy. Like Russian T-34 tank heavy. I guess this is normal? The transmission itself is fine and I don't have issues shifting. Just that damn petal requires a bit of effort to depress it.

throw-out bearing slide probably needs cleaned and lubed...every time i have ever had hard pedal on clutch it has always been that or a clutch cable starting to frey in the sheath tubing.

No clutch cable. Rod shift. I am guessing for the throwout bearing the transmission needs to come out for that right?

Rod shift has nothing to do with clutch cable... we are talking about clutch feel not shifter feel....lol on the Bearing slide sleeve, the answer is yes, the transmaission would have to come out. You can test the clutch cable by removing it from both ends (trans and pedal) and use a good pair of pliers or vise grips to push and pull the cable with no load on it...if it moves freely then it is not the clutch cable....if it has resistance on it making it difficult to push and pull then it is the clutch cable and you will need to replace it... hope this helps.

It's is easy to get the cable out? If it helps the petal starts easy enough on depress then becomes stiff. Funny enough you don't even need to press the pedal all the way to the floor to change gears. Pushing it a little bit (about halfway or so) you can still change the gears.

you will have to pry the end ball of the cable out of the shifter fork on the trans and start from there

It's not normal. Cable, throw out bearing (TOB), or clutch fork bushings. Cable is the one part that can be changed without removing trans. Block the clutch pedal up before disconnecting the cable or you'll get the clutch pedal adjuster out of whack. The cable is somewhat buried, so you may have to remove some bits to get to it; other than that, not too bad to change.

The ones I had develop this symptom were all clutch cable issues. On one I had success re-lubricating the cable, on the other not so much.

From the moment I got the car the clutch pedal was always heavy. I have no real knowledge of the history of it. I doubt there is anything but the stock stuff in there. I do know that the car was in an accident. By which I mean he hit a deer with it. A previous owner did tap the transmission and put a drain plug on it. Aside from that assume factory.
