I've been working on my clutch for the past week, the trans is out of the car, flywheel is being machined monday...you can call me butter, cause I'm on a roll...everything has gone super smooth so far...oh, with the exception of NOT receiving my clutch kit yet. 3-5 day ground shipping is apparently (3-5)^2 day ground shipping. it's funny how they take your payment right away, then wait a week to ship anything out....

For anyone considering doing a clutch yourself....go for it! I was too stressed out about this job, yes it's a bit of a hassle dropping the subframe, etc, but honestly it hasn't been that bad. Obviously this is with access to common tools, etc. The $350 Snap-On engine fixture is a joke, it could easily be recreated for $60 if you had any kind of scrap box steel lying around.

When installing the trany, try using heavy-duty tiedowns. They will support the weight and still allow you to "jiggle" the tranny into place.

Well we had all the stuff to make it at school, I wouldn't actually spend my money on that lol...although it's nice to have the peace of mind that steel brackets bring when that block is hanging over your head... :p

are you going by the Chiltons manual on clutch change ? if so, dude, thats a LOT of work. after building an engine support brace similar to sdpatts, i was able to have the transmission out in 3 hours. my first clutch job was done by the book, and it took me a week (at 4 hours of work a day) just to pull the transmission.

glad to hear youre coming along though.
