Car has issues. Every time I give throttle or let off, there's a clunk, up to and including 3rd gear. If I take off in first gear, there's up to 3-5 little thunks. In reverse, it's one big clunk.

Any ideas?

I just, 1 hour ago, replaced my driver side axle, which I thought was causing the clunks and whatnot. Anyways, it's still happening.

I have replaced my axles, have solid mounts(3), ASFB's, and have them all tightened down.

Anything else I can check or suggest?

Just check the mounts to be sure, just because there solid doesn't mean there good forever. Also check the mount bolts and the holes in the mounts.

I just did, 2 minutes ago.

I did replace my clutch and since then the problem has came out and grown louder. The only thing I did different that time around was remove the trans through the fenderwell and not torque the SFB's as tight as before. I have them at 85 right now, and I will try 95-100 right after this post. I hope that fixes it because I gotta go to school within an hour.

Tightening up the SFB's to 100 didn't help.

I visually checked the mounts, but I also did the ebrake testing. The motor did not even move a millimeter in reverse or 1st. In 1st, the engine almost stalled and no problems showing. I put it in reverse, no engine movement, but I did get a clunk/pop when the clutch was almost fully engaged.

Could this possibly be a bad axle that I installed? It's the exact symptoms before I replaced it, so I'm wondering if it's possibly something else. I read about strut rod bushings, but mine look fine and I don't think it would clunk in reverse with the ebrake if it was the bushings. But, I may be wrong.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply.

Well I fixed it.

I forgot all about the trans mount when I was checking! The rear bolt-to-frame was not torqued down good enough. I just zipped it in there with the impact, thinking it would be good when finishing the clutch job. That's why I didn't suspect it and skipped it while checking. I even looked at it!
