My passenger side is flaking, I am waiting for a bit to see if the driver's side does also, before I go get them replaced.

Be aware that Ford may still have defective tailight assemblies in stock. I've had mine replaced at least four times. So many times I can't remember for sure. Well, at least my car gets washed every time it goes to the dealer...

Talked to ford

My 2010 ford taurus tail lights are peeling again for the 2nd time and now i'm out of warranty. I talked to ford and they offered to replace all four tail lights, but i had to pay 40% of the cost ($279.18) with no promise they won't peel again. I can not afford to pay 279.18 and have the tail lights peel again in 6 months and they probably will. But that all ford was willing to do!

Take them to small claims court.

Well, mine that were replaced back in 2010 are peeling again. Spoke to the dealer and they have to do the usual and see if Ford will replace them. Good thing I noticed it - I'm at 35,6 something!

Hopefully they figured it out by now but I noticed the 2013's don't have the chrome rings.

I took mine in and I am just over the warranty period but ford replaced mine just over a year ago, he was going to see if he could replace them again for me even though i am out of warranty..

they probably wont replace them and I will just have to deal with it.

I have 35,500 and both sides are starting to flake again. They were already replaced under warranty once before. Pathetic! It's not like these get driven off road or anything. lol

Went to dealership today with 35,700 miles on the clock. The inner rear lights are pealing now. Being replaced under warranty. They didn't even have to take pictures.

I just got mine replaced as well. 35,000kms on the car. got the "SHO ecoboost" badge replaced along with the front ford logo. not too happy but my local ford dealer did it without hassle. Had to take pictures and send it to ford to get authorization

I had 3 of my 4 taillights replaced about a year ago ( they wouldn't replace the 4th since it wasn't flaking yet) and of course the 4th is flaking now.

My Ford emblem on the front is pitting majorly, will they replace that?

Yea the finish on the taillights and emblems suck. I'm going with the SEL without chrome to replace them. I only want to swap them out once. Just as the brakes I ended up going with powerslots and ebc pads after my stockers warped. I hope to go with the mob steel grill so it should eliminate the front pitted emblem.

I've had all four of my tail lights replaced, and they're still flaking. My front Ford emblem is also peeling and cracking like crazy. I have a new SHO on the way so I'm not gonna bother replacing it. I'm so glad the new SHO did away with the chrome tail lights. Hopefully the new Ford logo won't have the same problem....

Mine peeled too, 3 times.............. Yes thats right 3 times ive had ford replace, and three time's theyve started to peel off.

Luckily I have a black sho so I took the lights out, taped them off and painted the surround with duplicolor black...... No more problems and IMHO it looks better.

Had this fixed? Check in ...

I've read a lot in the forums about this problem and recently had this repair taken care of by my local dealer. However, I am starting to question the quality of their work and I was looking for some input before I call them on it.

The full assemblies were replaced (inner and outer). My concern has to do with the chrome piece that goes across the trunk lid under the ford logo where it goes over the top of the inner assemblies. Is that chrome supposed to be attached to the light assemblies with the two-sided tape they use, or should there be gaps?

I believe it should be glued down. To me it looks like they didn't really know how to handle this and maybe figured I wouldn't notice. It wouldn't be the first time, but I figured I'd toss for some opinions to see what you experienced when you had this resolved.

Thanks.

Mine is a Silver 2010 non-PP; no mods; < than 33K.

it should be stuck down with no gaps. The tech is supposed to remove it before installing the new lights, otherwise they will bend up at the ends to get the job done, which is what it sounds like he did to yours. The tech did the same to mine, then replaced it because he couldnt get it to bend back down and sit flat again...

Paint them with PlastiDip. I did mine 2 years ago and they look awesome. $10 for the can and an afternoon of light work. A much better alternative to replacing them with new ones that will peel again. But if you're buying new ones, get the SE ones that don't have chrome surrounds.
