I need a few ideas on what I can do to up the performance on my charging system. The lights just dim terrible when I turn the system up. I got a cap but it didnt do much good. I guess the only other idea i had would be another bat in the trunk. Any one care to throw in some cents?

What sound system do you have? Do you have an UDP? What size cap do you have? One helped in my system. Maybe the alternator needs to be replaced. Has it been tested?

You could get an LPM and have the idle bumped up. Also could get the alternator rewound for higher output.

Alternator was tested when I changed the battery. I'm only running a 500w amp to 2 12's with 4ga wire. Do you have an idea on what it would cost to have an alt rewound or where I would get it done?

If that's all your running and you are seeing problems with that setup and if your alternator checked out good i would say you have another problem.

I would also check the ground for the amp. Where did you ground it and how long is the ground wire?

How is the alternator cable to the starter and the cable from the starter to the fuse box?

Amp ground is only about 6" on to the cap and about 1' from cap to amp. Cap is grounded to the floor of the trunk where I sanded away the paint and attached it. The cable is in good condition from the alt-starter-fuse box. Its not very big though. Thought replacing it with a slightly larger GA cable. Think this would help?

It's worth a try but I doubt that's your problem.
