So I changed the timing belt a few days ago and had someone helping me. Long-story-short: I should have double checked the work because you dont nknow who torqued what, so it turns out the bolts for the cam timing gears were not tightened. (it was knocking then too, the this happened) The timing gear closest to radiator side backed out and cut a hole in the timing cover and trashing the new belt.

So today I took it back apart and replaced the bolts and cam timing gear (to be safe) as well as the timing cover. I just started it up and now its knocking again! The timing cover is not on and neither are any accessories or belts.

Please listen to the video and tell me if you have any ideas, i need this thing running tomorrow. The race Ive been waiting all summer for is nthis Saturday!:frown:

What could be making this sound?

Thanks a million

VIDEO coming in a minute.

Okay, I just tore it down again. Took the tensioner off and re-installed it making sure it was installed right (according to http://shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=34253 ). I out it back together and its still making the noise! Please please help.

It didnt make the noise prior to the front 60K and now it does. Accessory belts are not installed, crank bolt is torqued, cam gears are on there tight, timing is good, washer between timing gear and harmonic balancer is installed.

How do I tell if the tensioner is bad?

Please help, I only have a few hours of working time before the race Ive been waiting all year for.

Thanks

Ok, the video is now hosted HERE

I watched it and I definetly can hear the sound, but I'm afraid I have no idea what it is.
