Well, the check engine light came on and stayed on while the car was warm today on my '94 ATX Sho.. The car has 82K miles, just did upper 60K about one month ago. New O2 sensors last week. No driveability problems. Codes that came out were:

111
172

I don't understand, isn't the 111 code the all ok code?

Where do I start to look. Gas cap is tight. Thanks for your help

Yes...the 111 is "system pass". The 172 reading is the O2 sensor, bank 1, lean code. When you replaced the O2's did you clear your codes?

Yes, I cleared the codes. Took the neg battery terminal off, stepped on brake pedal, waited for 10 minutes reconnected it. The CE light comes on after hard acceleration if it makes any differences. When I shut the car off and turn it on again, the light goes off until hard acceleration

Jan,

You are slightly misinterpreting the codes.

During the KOEO test, you actually pull TWO sets of codes, the "hard" codes then the "continuous/memory" codes.

The 111 indicated there were no hard codes. The 172 is a memory code.

FWIW, this is typically an O2 Sensor that is weak/bad.

OK, but the O2 sensors are new? The CE light only comes on after hard acceleration. Is this the thermostat being stuck open. i.e. a lean condition?

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak, probably in the area of the rear secondary runners since it only seems to trip the CEL under hard acceleration.

Check the hoses on your intake that connect the secondary butterflies to the runners to make sure all the hose clamps are tight.
