I just joined the GenIII owner's world last week. Very pleased with my silver 98 with just 68K. However . . . the previous owner said the CD changer was replaced twice. Last time in Sept. 03. Well, after sucessfully playing it once to test it, it failed completely on my third day of ownership. bummer. I really don't want to shell out money on the cd player considering I'm going to drop $700 on the cam welds within the next month.
I did a search on cd changers on this forum, but didn't get a clear picture as what to do or how much replacing costs. Basically the cd cartridge won't eject, and the display tells me there is no cd in. I have an Alpine 6 disc player that's been sitting in my closet for a couple years, can I just have someone install it in the same spot as the factory one? How much would that run? Will any old cd system hook up to the factory controls? Please help!
