ok i started a project to paint the intake on my friends car with him. it didnt go smooth at all. first when we put it back together after painting and then tried to install it, it didnt work. so then we found out that the couplings were cracked so we ordered the silcone hose kit from bittersweet sho. i got those on which weren't easy and i put the intake back together again. well now with it installed the car started and sounded alright but it still wouldnt idle. i called a couple of friends and found out that i just may have put the intake on with the couplings tight which could cause the runners not to sit right. so i loosened everything up then tightened down the runners and then tightened up the couplings and it still didnt work. o ya i at one point when one of my friends was helping me, he sprayed starting fluid near the butterflys canister and on the bottom of the runners and the car stayed running. i can't figure out whats wrong.

he thinks that either the bbbs are bad or the runners are warped.

what do u guys think

the runners also came form a junk yard car and is also from an MTX and the kids car is an ATX i dont know if any of that matters.
thanx corey

Well the whole thing isn't an mtx intake. Just the runners are from an mtx intake the other pieces are all from my stock atx.

It sounds like those runners are possessed. Just think there may be a perfectly running SHO with no intake sitting in the junkyard, all because some previous owner :nut: lost his mind trying to diagnose why his car wouldnt stay running. Maybe soon there will be another one, only it will have lambo doors I can pillage off it :naughty:

Are you still hearing air sucking even after you put all new gaskets and tightened down correctly? Did you check the inside of the runners to make sure the port wasnt too aggressive, maybe the walls are SO thin there may be a spot somewhere thats hard to see where air is actually leaking in. Could it possibly be something to do with the DIS on the new intake? I wouldnt think the butterflies would affect the idle. I dont know what else it could be, but if it runs fine when you put the stock intake back on theres got to be something going on with the new one. I hope I dont have these issues in the next couple weeks with my bbb and pp. Good luck guys

Make sure the IAC/IAB is connected. When mine was disconnected, it couldn't hold an idle.
