Can I swap my trunk/gas door release module?

As the title says, can I swap my trunk/gas door release module located to the lower outside driver seat with a new unit?

How hard is it to do this?

I'm only doing this because the previous owner does not have the key to this trunk lock and I'm debating on getting a key made or swapping it...I really wanna swap it though because mine looks extremely old.

It's not hard to do. If I were you I would find a parts car and change the locks. The trunk/gas release, trunk cylinder, and I think the glove box all use the same key.

With the switch on the floor, you can change the whole thing or just the plastic or just the lock cylinder.

You can also change the tumbler in it. Not too hard to do either.

Also, finding a spare unit that has a key will be difficult. Most of the time the keys go with the deck lids or they don't have them at all.

Either way, it's not hard to change them out.

Thanks guys for the reply...I found a few on ebay with the matching key included. The only problem is I would need a seperate key for my trunk but it's fine since I'll just leave the trunk/gas door release unlocked all the time.

I'll be changing the whole unit...plastic and lock cylinder.

You can try to contact the seller and see if he/she has the matching lock cylinders to sell so you can use 1 key for all.
