Heyy guys. I am considering having some work done on my car by Bruce Malachuk(idk his username here). I was wondering if anyone else has been to him? If so, was the work good? I was going to have my car serviced by NESHO however Bruce contacted me today and is much closer to me. Thanks guys.

He's what an hour closer? Big frigging deal. I'd still take it to NESHO as they do this all the time and they do the best job.
I agree you should go to NESHO. They have WAY more experience. People drive hundreds of miles to get their cams welded at the Camfests. They welded my SHO and I have nothing but positive things to say about the experience and results.

this guy is 3 hours closer than NESHO. The main reason Im considering this is because of the distance. I need to drive my car to the shop and have it fixed, i would rather drive it an hour instead of four.

For those ppl stating that I should go to NESHO, I am taking that into consideration as I havent made a decision on what to do yet. Im more looking for information on people that have dealt with Bruce, I know that NESHO is more experienced.

First, read my signature regarding the people who print their business cards on the back of other people's business cards; that specifically refers to Bruce.

Bruce was kicked off of this forum for ripping countless people off, and for constantly trying to peddle stuff here without paying the lousy $5 fee to the forum first (nevermind copying everything he does or sells from somebody else -- he's never once had an original idea on his own).

I'm not aware that Bruce has welded more than 1 or 2 cars, and even then I think he had someone else do the welding with the cams out of the car. Either way, Kirk is ahead of him by well over 1000 cars without a single post-welding failure.

When you ask yourself whether it's worth whatever price Bruce is asking along with saving yourself 90 minutes of driving (and that's all it is, BTW), consider what you'll do if one of his welds fails and you have a cam failure anyway, or worse if he's not experienced in preventing the numerous other risks of motor failure inherent in the cam welding process. Will he warranty his work and replace your motor if he destroys it?

Speaking for Kirk, we don't really care if you go to Bruce or not. Our schedule between now and the convention is almost full, and one cam weld more or less isn't going to make or break the business. A significant part of our work involves fixing other people's screw-ups, and we make more on a motor swap than a camweld anyway, so we encourage all the fly-by-night welders out there to keep up their bad work!

Im not sure where you're located but I got my '97 welded in Detroit by a guy named Rik. Here's his website, he's welded over 50 SHO's and did a great job on mine. Charges only around $500 bucks. He'll change your plugs and coils, crack vacuum hoses for no extra charge. I'd recommend him to anybody.

Yeah, I would avoid Bruce like the plague if I were you. And Spencer is only an hour and a half east of [derragatory term specifically used for Bruce M.], and as much as me saying this may surprise everyone, Kirk's work on the V8 SHO, including welding, is far superior to most.

Just my $0.02

okay guys. THAT is exactly what I wanted to hear. Bruce is no good and i shouldnt go to him. All I had to go off of is the emails Bruce had sent me, nobody else until today had an important thing to say other than NESHO is the place to go. Now that I know I shouldnt go to Bruce I wont, I already have an appointment at NESHO for April and I will just keep it.

I do have one question for Chris(Mr. Anonymous), I mapquested NESHO's address and have come up with 3.8 hours away from me while Bruce is only 1 hour. how is that only another 90 minutes? Im not saying your wrong, mapquest isnt the best at giving a time estimate. However 90 minutes vs. 2+ hours is a big diff.

Big ******* deal. I drove 20 hours each way to have my cams welded. I wish I knew Kirk was doing them before I did that. But that was over 5 years ago. Kirk is the best. Bruce is far from it.

Do it right the first time unlike the Ford stealers.

You might want to have someone check those welds. Someone from the V8 list had a cam failure even though his cams were welded. I believe they were welded by Predator. Pictures were posted and they were the ********* welds I've ever seen. It's like it was welded by me or by a special Olympian.

You'll likely be moving a hair faster than 60MPH on this trip, which is where MapQuest and the like estimate their times from. FWIW, in a snow storm, I made it from Albany to Providence in a bit over 2 hours, give or take.

i figure that I wont be pushing the car at all for fear of doing anymore damage than driving it as it is. I figure I would be going right around 70MPH as the thruway has a speed limit of 65. Im just trying to realistically gage my trip. i want to be at NESHO's shop at opening, if I go by mapquest I will be leaving Utica at 5AM and if I leave according to Chris' estimate I would be leaving Utica at like 6:30ish.

Is there already a problem? If so, have it towed.

I would rather drive four!!!:dribble:
Don't you like to drive that thing:rofl:
If its O.K. now and not making any noise. Im sure Chris will agree. Don't worry about it and enjoy the drive!:thumb:
I like Ian drove a long distance(15hrs one way) to have mine done before I knew about Kirk and Chris.:oogle:
