96 SHO
I got a good deal on a hole drive line for my 96 SHO so I bought it and swaped it. It runs close to perfect which is good for 250 bucks.
Anyway that is a different story. I swapped it because I had a lot of little problems with the original one. One of which is a running problem that I was writing about a while ago. It makes a lot of intake noise even when not in it and aq problem close to a coil braking down skip at low RPM heavy load. I tried about everything to get rid of the problem. Plus I had transmition problems. When I got the replacement engine in I knew there is a problem. The preplacement engine is much quieter intake sound and no skip.
I took the valve covers off the engine I took out yesterday and checked the timing and with the crank at TDC the cam dot is good on the front cam (perpendicular to the valve cover suface) but the rear mark on the drive cam (intake) is not. It looks one tooth delayed. I also checked the time of valve opening on # 1 and #5 cyl., exh. and int. and marked it on the crank pully and that looks good. The cams are not welded.
I am going to try to put some pics on. Any insight into this would be much appretiated. Thanks
