well my steal of a buy is finally coming together, cam failure (bought it that way) on front head bent 8 intake valves, but did not mulch pistons thankfully, pulled head (in car)in 12 hours and now putting it back together, total cost of parts bought; $300 for 2 cams, 149 for 1 head gasket, 171 for 8 valves and oil filter and coolant 35.00 and finally, 3.50 for band-aids, not bad to go fast.

now, does k&n have any induction parts by chance, and i got a "chip" for a lil more horses.

thanks for the past help

Congrats! You have installed the same defective cam in your car. Kirk will be in your neck of the woods in the next week or so - I'm hopin you have already made arrangements to get those puppy's welded. If not, you may be doing this again and maybe not so lucky on damage.

Just out of curiousity, how do you know that he didn't already have them welded or pinned?

Most often people mention it. He didn't. I'll take the high road and assume that he hasn't. Worse case? He has and I'm an idiot? I can live with that.

How do you know the pistons are okay? They could be weakened, or structurally damaged dont you think?

as far as pistons, rightr hand side was fine to start with, left hand side had 8 bent intake and the indentions in pistons were a minimum of .005 deep, i checked stroke with and indicator and it is well within, still have total circumferance cross hatch in the 4 front cylinders, thats a first for me. the only thing that sucks is my briggs and stratton valves are bigger in diameter than my sho's, buy oh well, did the hole fix for under 650.00. including welding the new cams and the old ones. she runs like a new one...
