For several years now I experience a slight to moderate buzzing noise from the upper dash pad area while driving on the highway, but only on hotter days. Seems to come from the middle or pass. side. Anyone else experience this and have an idea what it is and/or what to do about it? So far, pressing on the pad and lifting on the pad has not helped. Road vibration seems to be a factor at higher speeds particularly.

Wipers maybe? Assuming nothing in glovebox to contribute? Foam between dash and windshield giving way?

is it the cabin temp sensor.... I have mine do it and change it now all better. It sits just below the start button.

Yes! Exactly. At or above 70 MPH.

Doesn't seem to be coming from the temp sensor area, but I'll consider that next time I hear it.

It seems to be all about vibration and temperature. It will stop doing it on certain highway sections. Doesn't seem to follow speed other than it starts around 70 MPH.

The funny part is, it sounds like it is coming from the rear view mirror area.....but it isn't.

Mine started after the windshield was replaced. It's an oem replacement.

I just havent got it to act up enough that I can start using masking tape to tape over stuff and see how the noise changes.

And I really hate wind noises.

Come to think of it, mine got worse after I got my windshield replaced as well.

my 2018 has similar noise also, seems to change when moving passenger sun visor. Haven't pin pointed yet though. Drives me nuts, but comes and goes

Yep, that is what I initially thought too!

Original windshield in mine. Technically, I do not think it is wind noise, rather a vibration that the windshield is funneling upwards (from an acoustic perspective). I've heard it abruptly stop after the road surface changed. And it will do it consistently over certain surfaces, given the temp is high enough. Though I initially though it was wind noise. I also thought it was static or electrical feedback, but I am ruling that out at this point too.

I noticed mine doing it yesterday. It doesn't bother me too much.

I found a passenger side A pillar rattle on my 2013 MKS. Could not find it until I was a passenger on a bumpy road and could press on things to find it. I stuffed some furniture felt pads between the pillar cover and the body. Seemed to have fixed it.

I am very picky about squeaks and rattles!

My 2011 SHO does it also, starting right at 72 mph no matter what the road surface. I was beginning to think it was something down inside the passenger side defroster vents (after beating on the passenger dash, airbag, and even slamming the glove box). I am on my second replacement windshield but it's been in place for over 3 years. And it only started this year when the temperatures went above 50 F. In the past two years, I've been fighting a cowl water leak that turns out to be due to the cowl seal no longer really sealing to the windshield. (Lost several cabin air filters thanks to the water coming in and soaking them.) Which leads me to wonder if there is another seal in the ventilation system that has lost its flexibility due to age and seasonal temperature cycles that could be vibrating at 72 mph rather than staying sealed. I welcome other thoughts!

I can't stand rattles or vibrations either! My wife says "ignore it" and I have yet to get her to understand "I CAN'T!!"

Funny that these happen on all cars not just our Taurus's. I worked with a guy that traded in his A8 after 2 years because of rattles that the dealer could not fix.
