I had a similiar situation with Alex last month over control arms. He did eventually refund my money, after about a month of run-around and half-truths. He has a good enough reputation here that I seriously doubt that he will rip you off, just keep pursuing it until you get your parts or your money. If I remember right, he posted his # in the Group Buy forum for his CF hoods, you might see if you can find it, and call him up.

I still have not received $400 worth of parts for alex aka groundpounders that I paid for before memorial day. He told me twice that the parts were shipped. I think he is full of crap. I would stay away... Infact I will probably be making a road trip to see that con to get my money back. I am very disappointed that someone like him that has made a few big steps in the SHO community would rip off fellow members. I don't care what his loyal friends say, he has screwed people before me and will do it again.

Good job fohengr for making this post. I hope some people will actually read it before they think about buying :thumb:

a word to the wise ,I have had a vendor that has owed me parts now for almost a year and at first I was so angry I was always thinking about it.now if I make a purchase I use paypal and my credit card and if I am not pleased within 30 days I file and get my money back.I have yet to do business with alex but plan to as he is the only one selling what I want but with a little precaution you can protect yourself .I have spoke to alex via email and he just did not seem like the type to rip someone off but then again I have yet to do business with him and you have .hopefully everything will turn out good for you in the end .

Well, I can’t speak about Alex aka Groundpounders speedy shipping or not. However, I can attest to his poor people skills.

I was in the Gen II cf hood group buy. First, I should say we should applaud someone wanting to bring us new items for our SHO’s. In my opinion, during the group buy I found him not always getting info out there. Then there were some hood failures which created quite some controversy. He blamed the three separate installers. However, I understand his cf Gen II hood is now in its third design change. (make your own conclusions). Back to my experience. After a quite serious hood failure, he went back and edited out info in his own post about it and kinda swept it under the rug. At this point hood pins were now required, which I did not want. So I emailed him I was dropping out of the group buy because I did not want to use hood pins. Everything was fine in his initial response and he offered me a discount since I had to use pins I didn’t want (Hey, did he offer all of you guys in the gb a discount for that?). When I said thanks, but no thanks he became quite upset and angry. He accused me of having other agendas and not being honest. Hey, I didn’t want hood pins. Apparently, the failure issues and other forum threads about the hood failures frustrated and got to him. We exchanged a few emails and he came up with a bs 10% charge he was deducting out of my deposit. He claimed it was for a “special order” red/red color cf cloth his unnamed manufacturer was charging (never disclosed any color as a “special order” before this). Well, I asked for proof the mfg. had indeed ordered it since I had not been contacted to confirm a final color choice. If it were ordered that’s an understandable fee. But, I never actually changed from black/red to red/red because he never answered my post when he said red/red was no longer available. He finally said take it or leave it or I’ll send you the hood and he told me to use it without pins and he didn’t care what happened. Apparently, if something doesn’t go his way he doesn’t know how to maturely handle things in an adult or business-like manner.. Or like when someone with a missed order simply posts to ask about his delivery date, he gets jumped on for asking. Maybe counting to10 before you act would help.

So anyway, just my opinion, thanks again for caring enough by making these products, but no thanks. Anyway, there are other honest enthusiasts/vendors out there making the same products that actually have a design without failures and proudly announce who their manufacturer is. Make your own choice. And I hope you get your tensioner or refund soon.

This very same thing happened to me. I paid him and he told me that he had shipped the part, he told me this several times. 10 days later I finally got out of him that he had not shipped the part (because it had obviously not arrived) and decided that he was not going to part out the car. It took me 3 weeks of hounding him to get my money back. I finally did. To my knowledge he did continue to part out the car.....

I will not ever buy from him again, and I caution anyone else who considers it.

I am still out $400 and no products. But now I have a phone #. Even with his group buys, I don't think I would buy from him...his reputation seems worse than SHO SHOP.

SHOMA, I was not making any personal attacks to you...there are others that always back him.

he is screwing a lot of people it sounds like. If i cant get this covered by paypal he will be hearing from my lawyer. This is TOTAL BS i gave over 500.00 for a hood two months ago he never paid the place he is getting them from. I did some digging and found out who is making the hoods for him and they personally told me he didnt pay.

I tried paypal, they will not do a damn thing. Did you use a credit card via paypal? If so, dispute it and you can get your money back. I sent him payment that went through as credit card first and he told me he could not accept it at that address and needed a "no fee" transfer. Stupid me, I did. Now I am stuck. Who wants to go on a road trip to Mr Martinez's house???

Well, he must still be alive since he's still selling hoods on eBay: http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZgroundpounderscc

You gotta love his disclaimer at the end of his auctions: "Also if you bid you pay no deadbeat bidders I am here to sell and make the customers happy not to play any games, if you play games I will report you to e-bay and take legal action against you." (Emphasis added)

Perhaps someone should introduce him to being defendant in some legal action against him...

I think the title to this thread should have Groundpounders on it as it would stand out more especially to someone thinking of doing business with him.
