My bad. Clean it up and weld it and then find out why it broke and fix that too.

Tom

The Shifter broke inside the little black box, i got that welded and then the stabalizer bar broke less than 1 day later.

Here's my idea, tell me what you think:

The stabalizer bar broke because while the shifter was bending back and forth and then the shifter finally broke, while it was bending, it was stressing the stabalizer bar and then it finally broke!??

Possible??

Could be. Make sure the slider on the shifter is nice and clean and it will slide back and forth before you bolt it back up. You could also **** it up with a small about of grease.

I will bolt up and connect the shifter and make sure it shifts smoothly before i bolt up the stabalizer bar. I got some Multi-Purpose Lithium grease, that should work right, especially if im not driving it in the winter..? and then i will hook up the stabalizer bar, and then baby it!

Where the two 8mm studs attach the shifter to the body of the car, that is supposed to slide, if it does not it can break more things.

OK! i just figured out why it broke, I was in such a rush putting it back together, i tightened them up as much as i could, they werent sliding...

:bonk: :bonk: Sorry for my stupidity!!

Should i grease up that slider piece on the plate? or will it slide on its own?

Just make sure it slides freely before you install it. Grease up the slider also. Just don't go nuts as it will gather dust.

I say weld it . olny for the fact that , It broke @ the joint . A welded joint !

Yes the steel isn't some junk hot or cold rolled . It is a little harder and does have diffent properties . Because of the "special" steel , i would after welding give the weld a few good taps with a center punch ( of chippin hammer ) right on the weld . This is to get the molycules moving while its cooling and help them get back together .

When welding high carbon ( or higher carbon steel ) molycules are forced apart . and a few reeal good taps ( on the weld ) will help everthing stick together .

If the break was @ anywhere else besides a joint . i would stay away from welding

It says I broke my stabilizer bar, and the pictures are kinda crappy. I did'nt want to look at them very long, The rod shifter can be welded.

It's kinda sad, but it seems that half of the people on this forum never actually read the whole story but yet reply. I wish they would actually take the time and read the whole thing, not skip or skim through. If I post, but have yet to follow through with the entire thread, I say so in the post just incase it has been said before.
