No Welding

Do not weld it. When they are made they are specially heat treated. The heat from the welder is way different. You will just cause yourself problems.

Get another off of a donor car.

A proper weld job will be just as strong as new, or stronger.

Thats what i thought. After i got my shifter welded and installed it,i could tell it felt stronger. I'm gonna take it to a shop on Monday..

Please do not weld on any torsion springs, whether they be leaf, coils or straight. It changes the "twist factor" and may become brittle at the weld point. If you absolutely must weld it back together to save from having to buy a 10.00 one from a junk yard, try and weld it as close to the end link hole as possible. There is less twisting the closer you get to the ends.

The sway bar is a spring and it's treated to bend rather than break. Welding anywhere on the bar will change the geometry of the setup. Get a new one. :)

Thats not a sway bar. Its part of the rod shifter.

I dont know where anybody got "sway bar" from? its the stabalizer rod that bolts up with the rod shifter under the car. it bolts into the side of the tranny. i just belive the function of it is to keep the tranny from moving. Anybody?

Ah you read the subject correctly, not hard to get astray actually. Ya I agree no welding on spring steel thats for sure.
