These cars are so confusing to me. I wanted to order some upgraded brakes to replace my warped earthquake shattering factory rotors today but their is like 9 zillion pad options and 2 or 3 different rotor sizes. how the f*** am I supposed to know what rotor size I have? All I know is its a 13 non PP. Why can't rockauto just list their stuff the way your car is, aka 13, non PP. Don't list a freaking mm size, that means nothing to me.

Call the dealership for a price quote. Ask for part numbers so when you pick up your parts they don't look it up twice. Have you VIN ready.

Go to rock auto and buy parts.

If it's late remember to use Google and time zones to your advantage.

Rotor sizes and caliper brackets are the same for PP and non-PP in 2013+. Pads and calipers are different though. mrhighcaliber had posted about this
https://shoforum.com/index.php?threads/2013-brake-retrofit.131238/#post-1446255

So even if you use the OEM rotors and use PP pads, that is a good upgrade, and an easy one. You can also use "police" pads from Raybestos/Bendix. Or go EBC yellowstuff (even orangestuff).

You can lookup the parts at fordparts.com with your VIN to get the most accurate results, but I believe these are the part numbers:
Rotor (F/R): GG1Z-1125-A / DG1Z-2C026-A
PP pads (F/R): GB5Z-2001-A / DG1Z-2200-B
Calipers (Front, D/P): DG1Z-2B121-A / DG1Z-2B120-A
Calipers (Rear, D/P): EG1Z-2553-B / EG1Z-2552-B

Haven't had anyone quantify the value of the caliper upgrade by itself tho. No doubt it gives an extra edge, just not sure % wise how much.

A package of rotors & pads similar to mrhighcaliber's, from RockAuto

To BPD1151:
You indicate in your post re: Brakes that you did the Wilwood Big Brake Upgrade on all 4 corners. I checked their website and don't find anything for the Taurus SHO. Then called them and got the same answer from one of their salesmen. Please advise

And here Ya go. :)

I'm hoping I'm asking this question in the right spot, but for the rear brakes do I need to purchase a kit to compress the piston? Does it it twist in?

For the record, the EBC greenstuff pads are absolutely horrible, worse than stock, autoanything told me they are semi metallic, but after further investigation they are organic, I went to the track and after 2 passes they couldn't even hold my spool at 2k rpm. What pads should I buy, I have been told ceramic are best, is this true, if so what type.

Yellow used to be EBC's best offering, & I rocked those w/o issue before having upgraded to the Wilwood's at all 4 corners.

I have since heard that EBC now offers an Orange Stuff pad that is one notch above their Yellow's.

Almost all of the articles I have read is that the ceramic pads outperform in all areas vs the semi metallic, and the only down side being the cost of them can someone explain the advantage of having a (high dust) semi metallic verses an ultra low dust ceramic? I already made the wrong choice once and want all the info I can before I buy another set.

So I guess I am subject to the whim of the place I ordered them from, they basically told me they will send me a set of powerstop z23 evolution pads at no charge, (since they told me that the green stuff pads were semi metallic, and they are organic)(I realize they are carbon ceramic but they are free) so I guess I will give them a try before buying something else. They have to be better than these green stuff pads, built for small cars and normal braking.

You would need to order some Carbotech or Porterfield pads, and cancel the current order, IMHO. I think the Carbotech XP6 were suggested for strip and autoX use. XP10 might be too much. The 1521 is more of a daily pad.

The z23 will not hold. At a minimum you would need Z37 or Top Cop pads, but have not heard of confirmed success yet.

I could get the EBC yellow stuff, or red stuff, I would rather stay away from the yellow stuff just because of the excessive brake dust, but if I must I guess I must.

Redstuff is not recommended. Yellowstuff or preferably orangestuff if going EBC. Protect your wheels with a good sealant, and the dust will come right off. I am sure many here can recommend a good product.

I can....release the brakes on this thread.......... I am getting 37K on my 14 SHO. Although Texas state inspection Passed I forgot to ask for print out of exactly how much meat was left on the OEM pads and rotors. I am the type that when considering brakes I get the new brakes ready, usually local purchase. I have the new pads and rotors ready so that if they do need R/R I have the new ones at hand. If not then depending on how much is left on current pads and rotors I can return, or keep in garage for future inspection.

With that said I have been looking at the EBC kits. The RED stuff Kit was $300 for all four corners, slotted Rotors. Good price but would the RED Stuff be overkill for me? I looked at the EBC catalogue and still can't seem to determine.

Driving style: Daily Driver and for that matter call it reserve. I got a 08 Volvo for D/D status so after the new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ get broken in the SHO will go back in the garage to keep miles down. When it is driven, Interstate speeds, high density metro area traffic, and as other DFW drivers can relate....lots of defensive driving, panic stops, evasive maneuvers etc, max power accelerations etc...... I did do a track when I first got the tune but not since.

If I was considering EBC.......Sounds like Either Red or Yellow but don't want to be overkill. I think red is ceramic if I remember correctly are the Yellow Semi Metallic? I realize anything is better than OEM but want decent long term reliability.

As for Rotors these days everyone cheaping out so plenty of blame to go around for that. Even if OEM or for that matter any rotors are able to be machined usually only get one....no pun intended....one turn to be safe after that the next attempts usually puts them OUT OF LIMITS. I also realize that decent pads also help, which is why I want a decent set of Rotors so compliment and get a decent...."Service Life" I am generally pretty good about brake checks however I got slightly lazy when the Volvo went to D/D status.

Based on reviews of this forum Yellow or Red? I also see they have the ULTIMAX basically OEM quality pads but kind of defeats the purpose.

At the bare minimum, if you're considering EBC brand (which is exactly what I rocked before going full bore/full tilt into the Wilwood's) I absolutely would consider getting the "yellows".

An even better pad has since been released, that is a step up over the yellow's, and those are their "orange stuff" pads.

Don't waste your valuable time, effort, or even hard earned money on anything below the aforementioned color options.

From what I am understanding and it may be mis understood. Pretty much Anything above RED...Orange and Blue are TRACK is that fairly correct? I agree with Yellow or Red though.
